Any advise, criticisms, knowledge all welcome.
I would do it, make it a day there seeing the sights.
Only if pax was willing to pay me $100 in cash UP FRONT for the return trip.
No promises of big tip or "I'll take good care of you" accepted.
If the $100 cash isn't in my pocket before the trip starts, no ride.
I'd offer to drive the pax to the nearest ATM to get the cash if necessary.
Yes, I enjoy visiting the area often.
Upfront cash would be nice but wonder if they would complain that I demanded cash or cancel.
Never been to the area.. would be lonely without my family there to enjoy the scenery. Shows almost 4 hr away.
After remembering the horror stories of drivers complaining about Lyft ripping them off on scheduled trips, my answer is NO, I wouldn't accept it.
From what I've read, Lyft cheats drivers on estimates.
Their estimate is only a $1 per mile, which sucks, and on top of that, there's a good chance they'll pay you LESS than the estimate.
Most likely the pax would refuse to pay the cash unless they're having trouble finding a driver willing to make the trip.
Without the cash, you'll make **** for that trip when you factor in the gas and time involved.
That time of day (assuming it's morning) you're going against traffic. 95 to 64. By the time you get to VB their rush hour should be dissipated. Coming back you csn get back before afternoon rush hour.
Agree you need cash upfront but not bad.
Point noted regards to traffice and it would be nice make over $200+ based on 1 customer and not 10-12
What doesn't make sense is Lyft is saying $200 for 200 miles.. what happened to the time of driving and it's calculation?
The trip is over 200 miles, so they'd HAVE to pay you by time distance.
The horror stories I've read concerned lyft OVERESTIMATING the distance. In your case they might be underestimating it, so you should be covered.
Make sure you get at least $100 cash upfront.
As I said, chances are the pax will refuse to pay, or they might try to offer you much less. It's up to you if you'd be willing to accept less.
I think we all know what Another Uber Driver's answer will be to whether he'd accept the trip at what lyft is offering lol
total miles 400 (round trip)
total hours 9 (round trip)
earnings 150 (200 * 75%)
expenses 218 (400 * .545)
You will lose $68 on this trip.
could this be long hauled with the lead foot?
I would probably do it and df my way back up if possible...just for the chance to see the beach...but thats not a business move...its not like you could negotiate the return fee WHILE the job offer is in queue
I'm leery of Longhauling the Pink Tutu because I'm not sure if they do Upfront Gouging or if they just charge time/distance. If they do time/distance then Longhauling will cost them more.
The day I have confirmation Lyft does Upfront Gouging will be the day i Longhaul the Pink Tutu as well.
I would not
I would do it if i dont know the desternation and pick up pax. If I know the desternation before I pick up, depends on situation. Looks like good money though.
You can drop off pax to triangle and I'll pick them up and drive to desternation. What about that?
I have friend in Norfolk so I stayed there one night and come back to home in triangle.
Without a 2.0x+ Boost/Surge I'm not interested. See if the passenger is willing to make the request from a high Boost area. Offer to drive them to that zone.
2× with the trip,it would be fantastic.
Is it possible to pick up pax all the way to DC?
lyft definitely does upfront gouging but, im not sure the threshold where they charge more
Is lyft only take 20% like the fare show us?
