Any ideas if one can survive on just Ola in Sydney. Have been cut by Uber back in March.
I believe that Taxify is nearly history now. Just needed around 1000$ per week possible I guess if you put in the time..
Why? After nearly 9000 rides and around 9 complaints in 2yrs they said I discriminated against someone.
End of story..no point in back in forth with them. So Ola ok?
Give it a go OP. I only do weekends but I'd say $1000 is achievable with your uber experience and weekday peak hours thrown in. In fact you'll probably do a lot better than me as you won't be wasting time learning the ropes as I have and still am.
I wonder what the average level of complaints against drivers are? Thats a low % of 9000 trips. Bound to get some s**thead bogus complaints. I can think of two times I have been notified by Uber in 3000 trips... both from what I did, not said and I dont drive the drunks at night... Let us know if you do the Ola experiment.
I'm not in anyway a cheer-leader for Uber, but to my way of thinking as a non-techie, one of the things that is massively impressive about them is how they constantly tweak and innovate their app.
Ola, and to an extent Taxify, have proven that you can break into the ride share market, but both Taxify and to an extent Ola have also proven that you need to have extremely deep pockets to stay there. Uber will, I think, ultimately out-dodge them.
In spite of my awe at Uber's techie prowess, the company has yet to prove is that it can be profitable enough to have a successful IPO.
Also, whilst Uber could probably write one of the best case studies for a corporation actually gaining a competitive advantage through using technological innovation and big data, they have yet to offer the coal face suckers like us a decent navigation system. Go figure!
Eh, I still get a fair bit (relatively) from Taxify. Problem being, Ola cut into Taxify's share, not Ubers.
Driving Taxify AND Ola, doing fine. When I was just doing Taxify...not so great. Before I started doing Ola as well, my earnings were down by about half, which I couldn't believe.
Or then again, maybe he just had a conversation Pax didn't like and got shut down for that. Go have a read, plenty of people get permanently deactivated for no reason at all.
First time my Uber account got shut down?
I had an argument with Pax (this was when I just started and didn't know any better) about my advocating for women to learn self defence and street smart tactics.
That was it.
Uber was pretty good with that one, they said "What happened?" I said "This." Account reactivated.
Later it wasn't.
So you really can't always tell why someone gets their account permanently deactivated. Uber's golden boy in Australia got his account permanently shutdown because a pax punched him in the face.
4.97 rating, 15,000+ trips, they permanently deactivated him.
