Waiting for passengers at stores

Why do some passengers think it's okay for drivers to wait for them to go shopping, stand in line at the post office, etc.? Don't they realize that time really is money for us? I've been cancelling sometimes when they're in these places. Maybe they think that we're like taxis, and "the meter" is running?

Yes, meter is running. Pick up wait is running at $0.20/minute. In multi-stop waiting, can you tell what was the rate?

In Madison we get $0.20/minute wait time (before the trip starts) but only $0.15/minute during the trip, which includes stops at stores etc. -- whether scheduled or not.

So when a pax comes out and says "you can start the trip, I'm still waiting for someone else to come out" I'm like "no thanks".
