Whenever I accept uberpool trips the navigation system opens google maps. Ive changed the settings, yet it still opens it when I try to use waze.

Anyone else having this problem?

This happens to everybody because Uber made it so that when you do uberpool you can only use Google maps and not waze. Why the hell are you doing uberpool anyway? Jesus christ.

There is something in the way they have to hit the API of Waze that is probably different from Google maps and they dont or cant program it to do what they want it to.

There is nothing wrong with the API and nothing is difficult since Uber once used waze for uberpool before they changed it, and lyft still uses waze for line.

I think the reason is because waze always makes you go on the highways while Google maps tends to go local, and Uber wants you to pick up more people. So they make u use crappy Google maps.

I didnt say there was something wrong with the API I said they were either not able or didnt want to access what they needed. There is also some kind of deal with Waze to make it seamless with Lyft so that implies they needed some kind of access which was not forthcoming. It looks like its access to Waze's Transport SDK which Uber does not have earlier this year I dont know if that has changed since.

Actually it’s not google but Uber GPS. Which is actually Apple maps. The worst of the three.

One of many reasons I don’t do Pool.

Yes, I am! I heard a rumor, or maybe saw mention of it here that this is happening because I'm using an iPhone (iOS) ... and that the app on Android allows you to continue to use Google Maps during an UBERPool ride. Can someone who's experienced this please let us know if this is true? Thanks all!

Oops ... I didn't fully read your post. On Apple iPhone the UBER app forces you to use the built-in UBER Map navigation in UBERPool mode. Which 'sucks.' I heard that if I use an Android phone I'll be able to continue using Google Maps while in an UBERPool ride. Can someone who's experienced this please let us know if this is in fact the case? thank you!

Uber uses Google Maps on Android for Uberpool, it cannot use Waze for Uberpool.
