Is it the start of a collapsing deck of cards?
Could be .. this is big and will hit them hard both financially and in terms of public image.
The Philippines did a similar thing recently but eventually gave in to public pressure and let them start again but only after they had to paid heavy fines.

"To defend the livelihoods of all those drivers"

When it is a hit to them, Uber will bring the well-being of drivers (wonder why it was not worded as driver partners) into focus.

As long as it is not impacting them, the drivers.. oh well they are on their own...

You just know it's a small snarky group of vested interests with access to decision makers who have orchestrated this. In any event, license or not they will continue to operate and the public will support them.

No need to worry...

"The app will continue to work until the challenge is finished"

This will take years... Lmao...!!!
One of my mates was knocked over at a crossing and badly injured... The court case involving the insurance company has been ongoing for over 8 years...
Yes, 8 YEARS...!!!

Just like other countries which ban uber this is because of the strong taxi unions which can influence politics

Heard reports on ovetseas News and there are threads for this worldwide site talking about Uber License not going to be renewed in UK. It's going to leave many Uber drivers in the lurch with No work.
What's to say this might happen here later on down the track?
