I met a young lady last night at the bar who works at one of the greenlight hubs. I didn't tell her that I drive for Uber, just told her about my career in management. I told her I had been thinking about doing Uber for extra money because I like to travel. She said I better do it now because they are planning on cutting employees in Los Angeles this year by at least 30%. She told me that they are getting ready to heavily roll out the "self driving" vehicles. She said that the hold back in San Francisco will be resolved soon. They are already training some staff on how to deal with drivers when they come into the greenlight locations after being deactivated. She also told me that she doesn't like the way corporate treats the drivers. She said that there mentality is that we are all replaceable and not worth taking care of. That's not really news to us though. Yes I lied to her. But I'm not looking to marry her. So I'm sure there will be some comments about this. So just to let you know she is not looking for anything serious also. My 2 cents on this. 1. They will most likely cut anyone on the old 20/80 split first. It would be the logical business move. 2. I'm sure they will not cut all there drivers for now because there are a good amount of people that do not trust self driving cars. 3. They are going to use any excuse at first to start deactivating. After that they will just come at us with a hatchet and get rid of us because they can. Her and I hit it off so I will continue to pump her for info.
