LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (KABC) --
An Uber driver was violently assaulted by his passengers in Laguna Beach and police hope surveillance video will lead to the arrest of the suspects.

Laguna Beach police said they responded to the scene at about 1:30 a.m. on Monday.

The driver reported two drunk men had gotten into his car near South Coast Highway and Brooks Street and told him to drive without giving a specific location.

Feeling uncomfortable, the driver stated he canceled the trip and asked the men to exit his car.

The driver reported the men refused to get out.

In the video, police said one of the men can be seen lifting the driver, shoving him into the car causing damage to the door, then throwing him to the ground.

Authorities said the second man then grabbed the driver's phone and threw it.

Both suspects ran from the scene, according to officials.

The driver is recovering from his injuries. No arrests have been made in the case.

They were probably coming out of Dirty Bird (Sandpiper) dive bar. I'm not surprised cause it mostly sh**faced drunks coming out of there who will slam your door closed for a minimum fare ride 2 blocks to the next bar so you can make your $2.40 and get a broken door.

Looks like Fuber isn't going to help the driver who got attacked and not give the police any passenger information despite having their full name, phone number, billing information usually with home address etc. since police are "hoping surveillance video will provide their identity."

I always wondered what would happen if I got robbed or attacked and if Fuber would cooperate well I guess there's my answer.

All this for $.90/mile which averages $4/hour since there are zero incentives/boost in the oc unlike la.
