the real cost of driving for uber

One would think that someone putting together a video would be more accurate. She includes a bogus sales tax, but does not include dead-end miles, or self-employment taxes, or federal, state and local income taxes.

Actually, with the possible exception of the sales tax she referenced (I don't know what the rules are in her city), she is pretty well spot on. A driver doesn't owe ANY income tax if he/she isn't making money so they are irrelevant. The cost of dead miles, assuming she made no allowance for them in her calculations, would guarantee that the drivers are losing money, contrary to all of Uber's claims.
The basic thrust of her argument is that Uber is lying to drivers at every turn in an attempt to get them driving. In that regard, she is absolutely correct. Uber IS a scam.
Interestingly, I carried earlier today a commercial intelligence official for Fortune 100 companies who made the comment that Uber is has a serious problem with its image on Wall Street with many potential investors shying away from Uber because they know that the company's integrity is non existent. He also said that in his opinion, unless someone extremely high in the Administration is watching Travis's back, there will be a day of reckoning very soon.
