Teens that say, "somebody else is gonna pay the (cab) fare at the end of the trip!"

I hit 911, and advise the operator of the issue. I know where most of the jail sally ports are and can enter them with a heads up. No screwball will want to try that. I also carry a really nice taser too.

How can this be. They have go get the ride in the first place with a phone account. So Uber already arranged payment. Unless you are accepting street Hales which is against the law.
This post is in the licensed section which now also includes talk about Taxis and Taxi app companies.

That’s the type of ride to which OP is referring.

The rules and regulations OP has to follow for his company are different than the rules we have being ride share drivers for Uber and Lyft.

Has anyone actually called the Police over an underage passenger?
They usually get back out when the driver is talking to 911. That is when I cancel, and move on to the next call.

No just don't take them if they look to young
Middle school age on up. Last week, I had an irate mother that a ride share driver cancelled on over age. She took her anger out on me when I was trying to get the drop-off details.

The reaction that I normally receive is disbelief. Uber has not gone out of the way to inform passengers of the underage restriction.

Yes. The entitled little shit would not get out.

My usual routine is to roll window down, name verify, etc. Hit unlock button insteaf of window and in he jumped.
Asked if 18...No.
Anybody adults available to ride with you...
Its 3:30 in the morning, what do you think?

I cant take you as an unescorted minor. You will have to...
...If you dont take me i will call police and tell them you attacked me.

boop beep beep
911 Operator, do you need fire police or medical? Police...
What is emergency? I have an unaccompanied minor in my vehicle that refuses to leave after I cancelled ride...

At this point rider proceeds to yell that I am attacking her and trying to pull clothes off.

We have an officer nearby...tap tap tap...look out window...

...And there stands this lady constable.

Constable was doing paperwork in nearby parkinglot and saw me pull up and wait. Got suspicious. Was behind me the entire time as well as seeing / hearing all the antics.

Advised 911 that there is a constable here, gave badge number and operator disconnected.

Constable ended up taking girl into custody, not sure why. might have been curfew. Filled out report of sorts, asked if dashcam was on. "of course" and said someone will be in touch but I will not be charged with anything.

And that was it. No one asked for dashcam, and Uber indicates I will not be matched with that rider again.

You mean the underage girl that wanted a ride at 3:30am is going to be able to keep her account? Perhaps I should contact constable back and advise with further information.

May i place you on a brief 2 minute hold?

comes back...

I am sending this over to our incident response team and they will follow up with you

Thank you.

And of course they never did.

I just noticed this thread in Trending Today on the Forums page. Clicked on it, and almost ended up asking the same question, before realizing it was in the Licensed section.

Hate these calls.

Usually comes up when I’m trying to get my money up front because the fare is just plain sketchy BEFORE finding out someone at the other end is paying.

Fine... I’ll open the trunk and you can put your cell phone in, doesn’t open until I get paid.

If they refuse- no ride period.

Everyone has a cell phone.

The rest of the time I don’t find out that someone else is going to pay until I arrive at their destination.

“I need to get out to get the money from “So and so”

“Leave your cell phone and you can go in and get the money”

But most of the time...

I just hear from behind me “we’re pulling up now, come outside the meter is at “$x.00”

Most people will pay. Doesn’t really upset me as long as I get paid to be honest.

Yes, twice. Once because it was 2am and it was an approximately 13 year old girl who was dressed like this. Same kind of shorts and top, but without the hat:

332743

Cops rolled up and took her home.

The second time it was because I got a repeat call at 1am from a little 15 year old whom I had previously ride-denied for being underage, who on that occasion decided to get revenge by filing a false report with Uber. I got suspended for two days over that. So when the little turd popped up again I had to call it in to 911 as a suspected child runaway. The cops rolled up, put him in the back of their squad car and phoned his father to come and get him :roflmao:

Lol got one today! Two girls, 15 years old maximum. I ran the milage for them and it was an (estimated) $30 fare. I told them "that's in advance ladies". This is Charlotte, so they don't understand such high fallutin verbiage so when they stared back at me nonplussed I said "$30 in my hand before I leave the curb or no ride". "We don't HAVE all the money on us" (of COURSE they didn't have $30!). "Take us to a bus stop!"

Took $5 upfront. Bus stop was 2 blocks away. $3. Lol. Little rhymes with witches.
Woulda jumped and ran.

Rolled up on a local gas station before heading to work one night.

I was in uniform, (Security), and taser went into holster before getting out. Had the trade dress up but unlit.
Two young skanks hurriedly walk up. “Yo! You are our ride!”
I had locked to doors after getting out.

“Nope.”

“Well it says Uber so unlock doors Man!”

“Nope.”

Neither knew that there was an undercover cop sitting on ground behind them. He was there because of an attempted robbery two days in a row.

I pause and bend down next to him, “Be so kind and call a marked unit, I am not going to play nice with them.” He knew I had the taser, and was authorized to use.

I pass off some chewing gum to him which he unwrapped and doing so gave out the code words as I headed into the store.

Coming out after getting my evening tea, both skank teens were in the PD Explorer, handcuffed.

Both now sobbing.

I gave the undercover a nice cold soda as I left.

Found out later both were runaways. They did a raid an an extended stay hotel and the pimpers were nabbed with other girl. Oh the fun part I saw an Uber headed into the gas station as I pulled out.
