Anyone knows which tax agent that specialty on uber around Perth? Do you think you can get good money on your tax refund if you try to get max claim on everything possible? I keep receipts on everything when I spent on uber expenses.

If you don't get a suitable response just phone a few and ask... think they probably all have access to the required info...

I think you have to complete income tax by end of October so plenty of time there but you need to get onto your gst as bas statements are quarterly. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.

The GG concurs with piggy, but I do my GST monthly instead of quarterly with the return and any payment due by 21st of the following month. If you can register for quarterly would recommend as doing them monthly is a pain.

Hey jessandnicky try this website for doing your tax return, looks quite good I might use them:
http://www.drivetax.com.au/ you can thank me later :smiles:
GG website seems ok, price a little high at $280 for an Uber return esp if u are organised as I believe you would be.
Good page on expenses to be claimed, not so sure about the Spotify fees and I like the reminder to estimate parking fees under $10.
But for newbies and those uncertain about gst and IT go for it, am pissed I havnt set up something similar :frown:

Hey Lui6155 I too was also jealous when I saw the website that I too hadn't thought of doing something along those lines. Such a good simple idea and a ready made market out there for you ready to tap. I wonder if Uber set it up as a subsidiary business?

Do you have other employment as well as Uber? It's likely that you'll have a tax bill not a refund, no tax is withheld with Uber. Depending on your circumstances and other employment it may reduce your taxable income in turn lowering your tax bill and some drivers will experience quite the opposite where Uber income pushes their taxable income into a higher tax bracket.

Your GST payments are due quarterly and are separate to income tax.

Not necessary for the same for all. I did uber driving very much last year and own two cars, one I bought (the good old Geely) specifically for uber driving and with depreciation I will claim I'm hoping to make a loss last year and get a tax refund. All legit.

LOL piggy you are always funny.
Sorry but growing up watching and playing Rugby so I just can't get my head around the AFL game. Drives me mad that in the sports news it's all AFL in WA and no other sports as such.
