The major problem with this is indemnification. Who assumes liability in a lawsuit? Uber is like hell yeah we don't care, we will.... bang or bust.

Pretty sure GM won't do that for lyft.

On top of that you do not need to pick up pax to test out the technology. Lyft and cruise has their self driving cars on the road in sf as we speak gathering information.

If they get it working, GM doesn't need Lyft. They will buy them for pennies.
