Saturday $0, Sunday $0

Is there anywhere in NW Indiana that is at least consistent that doesn't require you to work at 2 AM

I contacted Uber Support to complain that Saturday & Sunday NO requests whatsoever. Saturday, I started later in the day, like 3PM and by 7PM I was so disgusted and exhausted driving around looking for action, I couldn't even continue. Sunday, I didn't leave the house. I turned the app on and didn't shut it off all day long. NO RIDER REQUESTS ALL DAY LONG! Wasn't my phone, wasn't my network, and apparently wasn't the app. The color shading came on and off throughout the day, always NEXT to me never where I am. I don't drive toward that anymore because 100% of the time it goes back to no color as soon as I hit the area. Doesn't matter if it takes me 1 minute or 20 minutes to get there. I sent a laundry list of complaints over to Uber and got the form letter response "We're aware of this situation"... "thank you for your patience while we work through it".... WHICH situation??? None, I say. I HATE canned responses. In the same complaint I expressed that if they do not offer a GUARANTEED WAGE PROGRAM as they have in other areas, VERY SOON, NWI will be a flop and they'll end up out of the region. (Side note, the GWP exists in places, is a temporary thing designed to get drivers out and about and drum up more business, eventually ending, but wages are guaranteed in the $20 per hour range during certain (and reasonable) hours daily. We need that in NWI QUICKLY. It should have been like that when they opened the market last year.

IS THERE ANYWHERE IN NW INDIANA THAT IS CONSISTENTLY BUSY? I'm just going to go bankrupt with automotive expenses at an 80% NEGATIVE profit margin. I'm also not able to work late night hours, nor would I really want to deal with a bunch of puking drunks in my vehicle doing God knows what in the back.

Thanks for reading my rant and any feedback would be helpful.

I've been a driver for almost two years and live in nw ind. the demand is not there. I wish it was.... Especially during the day..... You may get a few hits on weekend night at bar closing but just not worth it for an hour worth of work

Thanks much for the reply. Wasn't what I wanted to hear, but sometimes the truth hurts, right? Actually, somehow this week has been better... better as in $119.07 so far with 10 trips. I tried a new "strategy"... stay at home and see what happens. So the app is online from about 6:30 AM until 7:30 PM and when I get a request, I accept, then go back home. Only once, so far, have I gotten a second request before getting home. It's less frustrating. I can get other things done instead of driving around wasting gas, etc. It's still not ideal... I'm debating trying out the night life this weekend... I do have vomit bags, so...

Is there a reason why you don't want to drive to Chicago? What city do you live in? Unfortunately no matter what you do Northwest Indiana will not be profitable for the last year and a half I've tried different routeand ideas. However sticking closer to hammond and the casinos will do a little better. Keep in mind the casinos you haveA good chance you may be sent to the city...standby the South Shore you might get a few rides with those rides are usually 5 to 7 dollars for commuters going to the house which is close by. The weekend nights I need really late night like to 2-4 ammorning you will get a few rides as well

Also get over the vomiting I've given maybe 4000 rides and I've had maybe five people vomit vomit outside the window so it does not even get in the car plus you get 100 fee

I'm not familiar enough with Chicago to feel comfortable driving people around... GPS goes nuts around the tall buildings and I have no sense of direction built-in. I don't mind picking up someone from wherever and taking them TO Chicago, but it's too chaotic there for me. The burbs, I'm OK with. Got a few there. And thanks RE: vomit. Good to know! Thanks for the other tips as well.

Fjavier is right, you won't make any money hanging around NWI. I live in Hammond, also, and only work after 9 p.m. In Chicago Because I have a FT job during the day. I can usually get few pings between 3:30 p.m and 5 p.m around downtown Hammond and the Cal City area. One evening a couple weeks ago I just wasn't in the mood for city driving...I hopped on 80/94 and headed, I thought, to Midway. Never made....got pings the rest of the night everywhere BUT Midway!

I think they should integrate NWI with Chicago unless there is something that legally keeps this from happening.

I do the same thing. I work evenings & weekends, and can average about $150/week in NWI. I have recently started branching out to Chicago though. Depending on the ride, I can do very well out there & in south suburbs.
