Ringing Passengers is Expensive!

I became a bit suspicious about phone calls to customers when I saw my last mobile bill, it seems it costs us a bloody fortune to call t customer on Uber's bullshit landline! Have a look at the figures below, I sure as hell won't be ringing anymore customers, we're already paying for large amounts of data. Basically, for a quick phone call to see where the customer is (if the app sends you to the wrong address etc, costs $1.39! To rub salt into the wound, the $4.36 phone call was an app [email protected]#up where it sent me to a park in Dianella when the customer was at a park in Northbridge. The customer can ring me, or I'll be cancelling.

Are you on a mobile plan?
What company are you with?

Should it be free of charge for a mobile plan with free national calls to mobiles and landline?

I'm with Telstra - my understanding is phone calls were free, to a certain value, but it may just be phone calls to mobiles, I'll have to inquire, not something I saw coming though.

Even on a prepaid on a $40 topup with Boost Mobile you get unlimited free calls to mobiles and landlines. I think Vodafone have similar.

It would be worth you checking it out with Telstra Larrikin as it makes it easier sometimes to ring the rider to locate exactly where they are..........

Thanks guys - I rang Telstra and thankfully they told me the calls are free, as part of my plan, they're just itemised with a credit adjustment at the bottom of the bill. But bloody hell, you could get caught!

Don't call. Wait 3 mins, if not there yet. Drive to next street wait another 2 mins and cancel. $6.40
That is brilliant! I don't mind waiting if they pop out and so "Sorry, we won't be long etc" - that's polite, but the ones who just keep you waiting. My threshold is just over 3 minutes then stuff it, I cancel. But your suggestion is magnificent!

Reckon that's a dumb suggestion as the job might be a beauty and or the pax
Also I assume the pax can give u a crap rating as a result
Ps larrikin to avoid call charges I have a preset message in the notes section of my iPhone that I copy into the message that I send to say am here hurry up
Also my understanding and experience with Telstra is that all calls are free as via Ubers digital phone system so no dramas and cost in calling and hurries them up at same time imo
