Why do you even waste time sitting at the airport? That's been a dead zone for at least a month now and it's getting worse until labor day weekend.

Some times after working 12 hours already and I get a airport run and I'm pretty tired . I go to the cell phone lot to take a nap while waiting for my last trip of the day .

You may be better off just wasting countless hours at home and not driving at all until Tulane starts up again if you're gonna be driving during the day. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday days are especially awful. I hope for your sake that you own your car outright or make decent money another way. You're definitely losing money here making less than $10/hr before expenses

Seems like par for the course. It's generally agreed that unless one is in a minority of the areas Uber rates are much higher than the normal .80/.20 or is offering decent or generous bonus supplements, driving X is a minimum wage proposition (especially during the day). $35o in 46 hrs is about $7.50/hr.

I worked the airport where I lived off and on sporadically. Normally it was about a 1 fare/hr deal. With cab rates, and under certain conditions, one could make very good dough.

Uber incentives, necessary about everywhere to make driving worthwhile, don't lend themselves well to airport work it would seem. Surges , guarantees, metal and boost programs are geared other ways. Base rates probably undermine airport work also in many areas.

So , what you are experiencing doesn't seem abnormal in the least, especially if your area is around the average UberX 80/.20 fare schedule.

I wish there was incentives guarantees bonus boosts program or even some type of surge. We currently have absolutely nothing in New Orleans right now . Not even decent demand

Again, with no incentives and average UberX rates, driving X is a minimum wage proposition at best. Since you say you have no incentives at all where you are, and have to pay the taxes plus SEP on it all, that and 10 hrs of commute a week pretty well gives you your walking papers.

When the current crop of college seniors were in diapers, some of the part time cab drivers who screwed around a lot in companies I leased with would make $6-$7.00/hr for "beer money..." I usually pulled in about $12-$15/hr, depending on motivation and distractions available. Other drivers and parts of the country had higher receipts, some less.

Needless to say , $7.00 back then bought much more than $7.00 now....probably about 50% more. On top of it you had the usual "poor record keeping" and lack of 1099's inherent in the taxi lease model in much of the country, which made many cab drivers "a little light" in the tax envelope dept. (and still does)

I wish there was incentives guarantees bonus boosts program or even some type of surge.....
... I wish Lyft has more demand .
Hmm, yeah , I wish parts of my body were bigger than they are, I wish I made more money, I wish I had more and better hair...... I guess we all know how that goes...

I love being a uber driver , I wish we had more controll . Like with any business the more value you add the more you can make . We provide high quality rides to people in clean newer model cars , provide water, gun candy , good customer service . And how are we rewarded by lowering price so low

What? I'm going to request you this evening. I'll be going from the Hilton Riverside to Harrah's Casino. I know I could easily walk it, but I could use one of those gun candies. I've been looking for them everywhere. I think you bought them all. What time you knocking off today?

People are not stupid . Uber can only play this little game for so long , no one can stay strong forever. Uber driver is the money side of the business . We add the value and we create the money , we are the face of uber . We make the experiences . We the one working the streets night and day . Uber is like a pimp that don't know how to take care of us or treat us right . How long you think uber can sustain this way of doing business until every thing collapse.

I pray things improve for you, I was driving for uber last December when I receive an email on dec 14th that our rates would be cut by 33% starting dec 15th.....yep 1 days notice.....I know u love ubering, I do too.....but you have to use this to start a side business or do something else as well. Before they cut our rates I was clearing $1000 consistently every week working 35-45 hours a week....I've never seen that type of money since the cuts. There's a quote that says "build your dreams, if you don't someone will hire you to build theirs" and that's exactly what Uber has done.....so start doing something on the side.....are you doing Lyft also? If not sign up today.....they have demand too & riders tip you, but rides can be far out. I picked a guy up at tpc golf course, 30 minutes out, I was like hell no, but something said take it, his fare was $33 and he tipped me $20 on the app.....I just notice because it's a click of a button people tend to tip more with Lyft.

Actually, pimps in New Orleans don't have much of a reputation for good treatment of their "independent contractors."...

Although if some of you are posting your actual photos, I would say that Mr. Travis has hisself a mighty fine bevy of Ho's....

Think about the rate cuts and such as a good old fashioned pimp slap.... some of you were making too much, still back-talking, uppity and getting ideas...

He has to do what he has to do....

I think that Uber is trying to entice lots of new drivers (their ads are all over the jobs boards), and so they figure that they can squeeze the current crop of drivers to see who sticks around, and simply replace the ones that drop out. Capitalism 1001.
