Read the statement and see why Uber is laughing!

Look at the reasons for the refusal.

1. Its approach to reporting serious offences
2. Its approach to how medical certs are obtained
3. Its approach to how DBS obtained
4. Its approach to explaining Greyball.

First point is the most serious and Uber has to comply. Evidence compliance and point will be won at appeal. And changes to the reporting have already taken place after some public wrist slapping.

Second point is something I have whined about before that private clinics are being used for med certs without going through NHS doctor. But that is an issue for TFL. It is themselves who issue the licence.

Third point - same. TFL issue the licence if a clean DBS is obtained.

Fourth point- Greyball isn`t used in London (yet!) and isn`t needed to be used (yet) as Uber has a licence for London anyway and in the eyes of TFL is above board. TFL isn`t interested in its use anywhere else.

Is that it? Not very strong points for refusing a licence at all. Looks like Uber negotiated what points were to be cited in the refusal of the licensing decision and has their appeal all ready to roll. The legals from both sides will be rubbing their hands and lining their pockets in a drawn out legal farce.

Don`t get angry guys. Wake up.

The only fact is the preoccupied minds of board members who concluded on safety ignoring the opinion of millions of happy passengers, without any public consultation procedure about Uber. This is a demonstration of undemocratic ruling in the name of safety and public good. Uber reporting to MET has been improved but its crown prosecution who makes decisions for substantial evidence in every reported crime and not uber. A female rider can also claim what ever for what ever reason. The rest of arguments look like a shift of responsibility from accuser and licence authority to one of its licencees ... This is the fact... Never asked for a DBS or MED paper in other local cab offices if you are a PHD licence holder. How can you blame DBS and MED papers responsibility if you are the one responsible for checking their validity?

Another 'cheap, cheap, ' merchant.....you do understand that there are issues of public safety, rules & regs in taxi & PH ?
Uber deliberately treated the regulator with contempt...did not satisfy the conditions laid down for their continued licence...

The fact that's it's got customers is irrelevant..what's the problem ? A better app/ph co will be along soon...

1 sexual assault every 11 days
Anyone ???
Do you know how many millions rides this company has sold in 11 days?
There is not straight comparison to a mini cab company with less than 100 cars.

The real stat should include the number of rides sold versus the incidents and not the general timing..A real driver gets experience from mileage not from number of years holding a licence without driving long distances...
