I drove for the first time Saturday night (11 trips). According to the app, my rating is 5.0, but I have only had two "5-star trips". Does that mean 9 passengers didn't give me any rating at all, or does Uber not start the average until you have some minimum number of trips?

    Thanks all,
    Les

It means you have 2 5☆ rated trips.
You could have 0-8 rated non 5s. well, probably not. your rating will stay showing a 5 until you have 10 or so rated trips. 50-70% of your trips will go unrated.

Another question, I arrived at a passengers pick up location. I sent a text and go no response. I called and the "very drunk" person who answered said the the passenger had already left.

I canceled the trip as "cancellation requested by passenger". Is this the correct choice?

It's Uber math. 1+1=28.63. Don't waste time even trying to figure it out.

It means only two people rated you, and those two Gave you 5 stars. However the passenger can rate you at any time. This means that a month down the road one of those 9 riders can give you a 1 star.

My first ride was terrifying, not that there was anything wrong with the passengers, just doing something new. After that I enjoyed the people and the driving.

This is not true. Uber limits how long pax have to rate you. I think it was somerhing between 24 to 48 hours or until their next trip

Its true. I take Uber as a pax and this is the case for me. Its another reason fewer of our trips are rated. It used to pop up to rate your driver on the old app.
