Just got approved for postmates. Never done delivery services before. Anyone here have any experience doing postmates here in Vegas? Does it suck? Is the market any good? How busy is it? Not really expecting too much from this. Being able to at least make gas money for the week would be a nice bonus.

I do Uber and Postmates. Postmates used to be decent but seems to have slowed down either from being over saturated with drivers like Uber or just too much competition. With both apps on, Uber almost always pings first, but occasionally surprises me. My son does Postmates only and has gone hours without a ping. Mobile dead spots (Downtown Summerlin) will frustrate you because their app is dependent on the signal.

The upside is that most people tip, although it can take days to show up, depending on when the customer closes out the order. Tips are not always great, but even a minimum $4.10 payout and a $2.00 tip is more that a lot of Uber rides. I've also gotten $20-30 tips on large orders. A long delivery pays better than a long ride, On the other hand, a long wait for an order and a short delivery may only pay minimum.

I do an occasional one. Fast food places are kinda like pool rides. Make your car stink and don't or small tips so I avoid them. You just have to figure out which places have food ready vs places that say it's ready but you have to wait 15 minutes. Got some real good tips but it's really frustrating when you get stiffed, to the point you want to egg their house.

I signed up for Door Dash as well. Im approved but the app keeps telling me that all their orientations are full and to check back later when i try to finish my application by going to a local office.

Unfortuantely i dont think they are looking for more drivers in Vegas currently. The city doesnt show up on the list of cities they are looking for more people in.

I think that's door dashes way of saying they're full for drivers and don't currently need any.

I signed up and got the same notification.

Then the ****ers kept emailing me. Hey. You're almost done! Just finish your orientation!

Oh we're sorry. All orientations are full.

Hey. Finish signing up! Just finish the orientation!

Oh. They're still all full.

For MONTHS they emailed me telling me to finish signing up. And for months the orientations were always full. I could literally check it AS they emailed me, full. After about 4 months of being asked to finish and being unable because of their "full orientations" I added a filter to mark them as spam and delete them.

Go visit the DoorDash office, they can manually schedule you. I just quit DoorDash because my average dripped from $17 per hour to $11 per hour, and I'm sure others are quitting as well. Should open up some spots so they can keep drivers over-manned.

Yes, it's hit and miss.

For me, it's MUCH less tiring than rideshare. Listen to your own stuff. No need to chatter while driving. If you make a wrong turn, no big deal.

This allows me to work more and be less tired. Doing a couple deliveries is almost like taking a break. To me it's barely even working.

Hardest part is finding people's apartments or condos in these enormous complexes. That can be a little stressful, and unlike rideshare, you can't just cancel if you can't find them. But you get a feel for it.

There is more, though. With doordash, I was subject to the whims of the restaurant and DD. Accept a delivery, then find out when you deliver it that it was already late when you accepted it....some other driver's screw up. Guess who gets the 1* rating. Slow restaurant, 2aste 40 minutes of your time for them to complete the order, then on top of that get 1* for late delivery. Some deliveries take you 5 miles out of your delivery zone. If you have the poor judgment to accept them, that's all you will get the rest of the night.....

Honestly, I felt more exhausted doing delivery. Even if I were sitting home 2 hours without a ping, I could never really relax.

Good to know. I was considering DD and still might give it a shot.

I certainly have been burned by PM on occasion. I accepted an order for Teriyaki madness. There's one every 20 feet in this town, all of the sudden. (What's the deal with that?). En route, I realize it's 5.5 miles away. A single item order. Stiffed. Lost money on that one.

I've read, but cannot confirm, that you can get ratings "corrected" with PM. I don't usually know who downvoted me, so I'm not sure how. I don't worry about the ratings as much, but I'm 4.8 so one or two people could probably put me in the danger zone.

One more note on food delivery...avoid the strip. Avoid turning the app on near the strip. Hotel deliveries take up a boatload of time. I do most of my PM deliveries on the west side, but sometimes, like Uber, it will take you all over town. If I end up east of rainbow, I turn the app off and head west.

Speaking as a Postmates user, the reason you may be seeing a slow down in traffic is because their rates have gotten crazy. More often than not the Postmates delivery fee is more than the cost of the meal, so I just cancel and go pick it up myself.

It’s not unusual to put together an order for $30 and have the Postmates delivery fee be $35 or more. Or maybe I’m only hungry during surges

I did food to you here when it was around a couple years ago, it was awful the top driver did maybe $50-$75 on the best days for back breaking work.

Problem is the bastards that wants food from inside some casino, parking is a nightmare let a lone the mile walk inside most casinos, no thanks couldn't wait to pot out of Uber eats and yeah post mates is super expensive

They don't ask you to tie a bank account to their "pex" card. They have you attach a bank account for your direct deposit which is paid very 5 business days from the last day you worked. I have been a postmate since the day they arrived here in Vegas back when they used to supply and I phone. In over 3,000 deliveries I have never experienced any issue over payment. With less than 500 rides with uber I have had more than 5 issues regarding payment

On another note you don't make good money anymore with postmates anymore. You used to be able to make over 100 a day in five hours, now it could take 2 days to hit that number
