Uber has formed an exclusive partnership with a Philadelphia concert venue so that concertgoers won't have to draw straws on who the designated driver will be for the night.

Uber and Electric Factory on Wednesday announced they've created a partnership in which the San Francisco-based ride-sharing service will become the exclusive transportation logistics partner for all Electric Factory and Underground Arts performances.

Underground Arts at 1200 Callowhill St. is a partner venue of Electric Factory, located at 421 N. 7th St.

Electric Factory will establish dedicated Uber pick-up and drop-off locations at its venue, one part of the deal The goal is to eliminate the "hassle of finding a parking spot or worrying about having a designated driver," according to Jennifer Krusius, general manager for Uber Pennsylvania

The concert venue will also collaborate with Uber on a series of on-demand VIP packages in advance of future performance. The companies will email customers about the VIP packages.

Beyond the partnership, Uber operates several other services in Philadelphia. With a Boston-based partner, it recently began testing a service that offers rides to non-emergency doctor's visits. It also operates UberEATS, Uber for Business, and the regulated UberBlack limo service in Philadelphia. UberPool and UberX, the company's budget-friendly services, are also available in Philadelphia, although those two services have until Friday to pick up passengers in the city without reprieve.

I don't understand the point in this partnership if Uber driving, in Philadelphia, is about to be illegal from this weekend, as someone mentioned in an earlier post in the forum.
