Got pinged for a pickup in a DFW suburb. As I'm waiting in front of the house and watching the front door, I see a flashlight in a window (far from front door), and the window sliding up. This girl climbs through the window, closes it, and walks to my vehicle. As we drive off, she explains that her parents are crazy, so she has to sneak out and use Uber to get to her friend's house.

You should have said, "Me not getting out of this car, walking to your front door and ringing the doorbell is going to cost you $20 cash."

When she pays you, get out of the car, go to the front door and ring the bell. No show the pax as she is escorted back inside by dad. You just made $24 and prevented juvenile delinquency. Win/win.

Cool. You either kidnapped a minor or met a loser adult who has to sneak out of mom and dad's house.

You are allowed to transport unaccompanied minors. They are not allowed to use the service or hold an account, but no real effort is made to stop either.

Usually they are smart enough to sneak out first and grab you a few houses down.

Yeah, but if you do, you have the possibility of getting sued if you are in an accident like a hit and run.

Hit and runs are covered by Uber's $1,000,000 uninsured motorist policy.

Not if it is an unaccompany minor.

How can any of you determine that it was a minor from reading the post? Lots of 18 year olds live with their parents. Most of them do.

Most 18 year olds that live with their parents don't have to crawl out of their window...

It's only thing to think a pax may be under age and sneaking away from her home, but to see her do it and still take her?

No. If I see her climbing out of the window, something up. How do you know you didn't just pickup a cat burglar and you're now the get away driver?

Ask for the $20 and still ring the bell. Tell the parents that she snuck out and bribed you with $20. They'll get mad at her and be happy that you didn't let her get away, and likely will let you keep the $20

I'm wondering what time was this pick up? If my daughter turns 18 and she's living under my roof, she will darn sure abide by certain rules. You don't get to just come and go as you please.

Says who ?? It is not my job to be the enforcer of Uber's TOS for PAX. This question keeps coming up, and nowhere can anybody come up with valid law.

If anything, the TOS protects us and puts the oneous on the account holder. And if you read our contract, no where does it say we must not transport minors or check their ID to make sure they are 18.

Personally, with the app becoming more popular for families, Uber needs to establish a family plan and adapt to what is being called for.

Driving minors is not for me, but if you want to take minors, take them. I wish every driver would take them; it would mean fewer re-pings for me after other drivers reject them.
