Maybe Other Insurance Companies will catch on (but I hope not!)

My question is, if we are proven to be safer drivers, why are we charged more?
Simple answer: It's because you're on the road more and there's the additional risk of carrying passengers in your car.
Most insurance carriers will demand you to get a separate commercial insurance policy to cover rideshare. Those can range from $1500 to $3000 per year in addition to your personal auto policy.
Erie provides the most comprehensive rideshare coverage in the industry when we rate your car for 'business use'. It's around $30 to $50 extra per month which covers the added risk of the kind of driving you're doing. That's a pretty good value.
