Just about ready to pull a Scarface Half Baked Burger Joint/Randy The Ram Deli Counter

I've been doing uber very limited part time over the last 15 months. Up until a month or so ago, I could count on at least $25/hour gross on any given Fri/Sat night from 9p-1a. Now the streets are so saturated, there is no surge, and I'm lucky if I can grind out (4+ rides) $20/hour.

Tonight I made $32 in just under 2 hours. This is just about "not worth it, even for beer money when I'm broke" status.

Washing and vacuuming, putting up with the "so how do you like driving for uber" and other standard lines (and I'm a very friendly sociable guy), just to go on a series of piddly $4 rides is no longer fun nor profitable to me.

Not to mention the ratings aspect. I know my city very well, know how to engage and/or respond to small talk in a pleasant manner, know how to read someone that just wants to go from A to B sans conversation. I don't do the water or aux cord or charger thing, as I wouldn't expect anyone to provide that to me for a $7 ride across town. And still, I'll get like 4 votes of 5* with no change to my rating, and then bam, one nice happy pax will rate me less than 5* and my rating goes down 0.02. Never really cared about ratings or been a slave to them, but its not exactly encouraging when this happens.

I really liked the new gobank deal, wish that had been available earlier in my uber career, but that's not enough to keep me driving. I have a f/t corporate level job (I only make maybe $45k/year but not like I'm working at a gas station at 40 years old) and don't really need the effort and wear and tear on my car.

Ok ok, I'm well aware the above is new and exciting. I just wanted to vent a bit.

Has anyone ever tanked their ratings on purpose? Not to nice pax, but to anyone asking for a damn aux cord, or (in my case) complaining your car smells like someone has smoked in it, or that they're "just going around the corner"?

We have an annual citywide festival coming up in a couple weeks. I'm almost positive the surge will return during this time. I think that's going to be my last cheerful ubering. After that, I'll do uber when I absolutely need to. But if anyone acts entitled, condescending, or negative in any way, I'm going to just go ahead and unleash my inner @@@@@@@. Not literally. Ok maybe literally, I am a big fan of taco bell and dr pepper. Still, I have visions of sugar plums dancing in my head, while saying "you get what you pay for" or "gtfo and walk instead".

That video I saw recently about what a scam uber is hit the nail on the head when they likened it to a payday loan place. It was fun when I was making decent $, which I understood was only during the peak surge hours, but now it's not so much fun.

Anybody ever been an intentional dick to people who are intentional @@@@@@@@?

I pondered why I am doing this as I sat in two subsequent drive-throughs yesterday (McDonald's and Starbucks) for a 31-minute round trip of six miles making a total payout of $7.18

The Starbucks messed up her drinks and had to remake them. Even so, I noticed she tipped them a few bucks cash. Then, even though I provided five-star service with a clean car, AC on blast in the Texas heat, Pandora commercial-free music, amenities (candy, pen and paper, wipes, etc.), and the fact the pax was making perfectly comfortable conversation and seemingly enjoyed the ride, the pax's husband was not impressed that it took so long for her to get back, so...one star for me. I think I need to stop putting miles on my car and go to work for Starbucks.

Plenty here have tanked their ratings purposely.

Many have handed out Lyft free rides to Uber customers.

Many have thrown out rude pax.
