I want the liberals to think about this.

To start I'm not a Trump supporter nor am I Republican. Up until this election I was a liberal but the hipocracy is hilarious. Let's just say I'm a true New Yorker.

There are drivers on this forum that talk about being socialist, yet drive for uber. The yellow cab system is and will always be a much more socialist system. It gives everyone an equal playing field. The ride share system creates no equity for the individual, it only benefits the ride share company and the passenger.

At this point the hipocracy is hilarious, I'm not defending yellow cab, but it gave a lot of people that came here with nothing the opportunity to create something from nothing.

Ride share/ehail companies are purely capitalistic companies that are trying to take over the entire taxi world. Driving for them or riding them makes you a hypocrite when you sit on certain political stance.

The yellow cab system in nyc may be the only middle of the road system out there. There is the capitalistic way of the big fleets and the socialistic route of the individual owner. It's also regulated much heavier by the city which is socialism.

I'm just tired of hearing the socialist hypocrites that drive for uber. Your not a liberal. Your not staying true to your agenda/beliefs when you turn the key and accept a ping on any of these companies.

Ha, they are going to attack you. You know the usual suspects. It's really sad to read the things they write on this forum. I won't name any names but they know who they are. A lot of them are Socialists, far Left Wing, ANTIFA lovers, and even a couple of Communist sympathisers.

I commend your courage for opening your eyes. I try to share knowledge on this forum but they refuse to broaden their understanding of politics, economics and general entrepreneurship. There is even this guy who constantly attacks President Donald Trump no matter the topic of discussion. I feel bad for him.

What made America great was commitment to Classically Liberal socio-economic values. That includes the free market and competition.

Errr my eyes were never closed, don't take this the wrong way but I'm not on your side either. I don't support Trump I think he's a hypocrite as well. He's screwed small business owners everywhere. Is he my president, yes he is. Do I have to agree with him, no I don't. When I say I was a liberal until the election, I was for Hillary until she became the poster child for the maniacs. I actually liked John kasich during the primaries. Only person that talked sense on the Republican side.

I've always been a down the middle kind of person. It just burns me up when I see uber drivers talk about being socialist but drive for uber. The hypocrisy is hilarious. I'm for the the little guy.

I'm for small business, I'm for equality and I'm for free speech but I'm not a religious person and mind my own business. I'm for legal immigration. I agree with most liberal stances but I'm against the hipocracy.
"Do whatever the hell you want to do but don't impose your beliefs on me". Being born and raised in nyc you learn that.

I at this point believe there needs to be an equilibrium of capitalist and socialist programs.

I don't care about what they have to say. The moment the get in the car and turn that key, accept a ping is when their views mean nothing to me. Actions speak louder than words. I acted I stopped being the ehail slave.

How's yellow more socialistic then a rideshare app?
It's regulated heavily by the city, it gives everyone an even playing field. It's also capped. It can also create an equity for many individuals as oppose to just a corporation. The fares are regulated as well.
It's not run by a few people there are thousands of owners.

Ride share has none of the above.

What if the apps go public on the stock market?

It's not like we want to do this but after tlc kicked our ass and NYPD chased us for vision zero when deblasio got to the office and the garages and their aver pricing and crap. Uber looked like a good choice. Now we are stock with cars that we need to pay. Browse we don't have a choice we are slaves. But I'm sure after paying their cars no one will buy another one everyone will be back to yellow I guess.

Yellow cabs are not 'socialist'. It's just an example of government picking and choosing winners in a market (transportation). Socialist would be if they (NYC gov) owned the entire yellow cab fleet. Ayn Rand often spoke about how monopolies do not occur in a true free market. Monopolies are created via government interference and over regulation in market.

The beauty of Conservatism and Libertarian values are that we recognise and encourage difference of opinions. Liberals will NOT tolerate a difference of opinion in today's America. I'm; pro-business, small government (effective govt), free speech, gun rights, pro-constitution, free market, patriotic and a big believer in God given rights. The Democratic party does not align with my views. You do not need to support the policies of any politician in this country. It is your God given right to be secure in your independent thoughts. Today's Democrats are intolerant of opposing opinions. Which is what you see on this forum. Many don't even bother to articulate thought out messages while spewing propaganda.

I think fixer made another account... but anyway how is limiting supply equal footing? Also how is a formerly 1 million dollar medallion equal footing?

Read it carefully, it's a much more socialist system, my exact works. Doesn't necessarily mean it's 100% socialist. The difference is the average person can create an even playing field for themselves. Uber does not give you that. Your at the mercy of an algorithm.

If you render a service for money you are not a socialist. Cops and firefighters are socialists because they render service for tax money.

Asking a liberal to think gets you nowhere. Like that whirling dervish rumi says - people are like mushrooms, keep em in the dark and feed em shit

It wasn't always a million dollars, it got out of hand. But people did something with the medallion. Uber is just creating modern day slaves.

Lol whatever I just wanted to make sure these guys that are all about being pro whatever they are realize they are hypocrites just by driving for uber. The passengers are just as bad.

Actually, the taxi industry is crony capitalist/fascist rather than socialist.

Level playing field? With the medallion system?

The medallion system has shut out untold millions of low income people from ever owning their own taxis.

It also shuts out drivers from being able to lease cabs because the number of licensed cabbies far exceeds the number of taxis.

Another flaw of the medallion system are the higher prices the public has been forced to pay with the govt mandated high fares.

Taxpayers paying for a government agency to render a service is socialist. Using our taxpayer money to pay teachers and build public schools itself is socialist. No the cops and fire fighters are not themselves socialists, but the system that cuts them fat checks sure as hell is.

In the end it's all just labels that the peasants (us) use to divide ourselves.

Uber is close to the definition of command capitalism, yellow cab is close to the definition of stranglehold socialist beauracrocy enabling predatory financiers.

Ive never seen amyone claim liberal here. I think its hilarious that people only see things that fit their own agenda.

Exactly where is the level playing field you are refering to? 1 guy owned 800 medalions to begin with. Lol

He's one of the main reasons the medallion reached such a high price.

I understand creating a medallion system to "limit" the anount of cabs in the city to prevent it getting out of hand like the 100k ubers running around, but allowing 1 guy to own a ton of medallions is where they f.... up.

"If" they wanted to make it fair they wud only allow cab drivers to purchase a medallion. 1 driver only allowed to purchase 1 medallion.

But then again nothing in life is fair, as long as money is involved it's every man for themselves.

Socialism never worked. All former socialist countries have collapsed and gone for the capitalism lol. I still do not think that yellows are more socialistic. Everything is capitalistic. Too much thinking and philosophy here. Medallion and app owners don't care. This thread is nonsense.
