Just a heads up for all drivers in Canada, Uber is making you responsible for all the GST collected. So if you are setting aside 5% of you pay for the tax man at the end of the year it won`t be enough. You need to be putting aside 7-8%.
P.S. this also means you pay is lower than you thought it was if you are going by what is deposited in you account.

You get taxed on Uber in Canada...? Here in the US Uber doesn’t pay anywhere near enough to pay taxes on. There’s absolutely no actual profit and you always get money back at the end of the year. That’s the whole point of doing Uber. Not to make a profit, but to pay less in taxes! :roflmao:

The gst is a tax charged on all goods and services, similar to a sales tax. What ever tax get collected from the rider has to be turned into the government at the end of the year. This has nothing to do with income tax.
