How mush data are people using on their Uber/Lyft apps per month for GPS and communication? We're averaging around 20GB.

Can't remember my numbers but I calculated them in detail running both uber lyft same time. Honestly these apps use very little data. 10GB would not even be used running both as a full time driver.

GPS itself (sensing your location on the earth and providing coordinates) uses no data whatsoever, this is done by satellite (GPS) or cell phone tower triangulation (your location between 3 satellites or towers)

What does take data is taking those coordinates and applying it to an auto-updated downloaded map (google’s satellite birds-eye view uses a lot of data for example) and finding an alternate route when recalculating

So really, the only data nav uses is to send coordinates to the phone for an address entered, map updates, recalculating and for traffic stats, then as for the driver app, add in request pings and other Uber related info

You can actually, depending on nav app (Uber app not included), use data (or WiFi) to start a trip, then disconnect from data or WiFi for the remainder of the trip and only lose recalculation and traffic info
