It is Monday, plus there are alot of drivers on these days, atleast 3 times as many as this time last year.

I have a gauge of if I do $1 per km then its minimum with my running costs.

Thats alot of hours for that amount for me. Weekends may get you more but dont forget all the costs on top that will give you final earnings.

You will see over time if its a good option for you or more work and cost than its worth. Getting a regular day job usually alot easier to earn more.

Lets see

10% Gst + 32% payg = -$56
25% UComm = -$33.50
$0.65/km Car expenses = -123.50
Total = -213
Takings = 134
Profit = -$79

Congratulations you paid out of your own pocket to ferry riders around last nite !

Fuzzy - love your enthusiasm - but honestly what did you expect to achieve vs what you actually achieved ? Also please indicate whether are gross or after uber 25%

Oh my bad. $134 was net profit.
Total was like $178 or something.
Im not sure what Im trying to achieve.
Just have heaps of spare time after my day job. Dont wanna sit at home and do nothing.
I usually buy a new car every 3 years so just thought might as well do a bit of ubering and see what all the fuss is about.
In a way I kind of enjoy it cause I like driving.
Just going to stick it out for this week and see how it goes. Probably won't be doing it if the weekend doesn't pay off.

Ignore the bullshit calculations above. Some people try to give fair calculation and some are just trolling because their against uber.

You probably earned about 13-16 dollars an hour after all expenses. based on 178 in fares. Depends on what kind of car your using. So about 80 bucks give or take before tax.

I think you did good for a new person especially on a week night. I am assuming you didnt buy a car just for uber in my calculation. You will figure out how to do better each time you do it. The weekend will be alot better for sure. Saturday night being the best.

Good luck

Haven't been here in ages, and I hate Uber as much as the next person as an ex-driver - but I really wish haters like yourself would stop quoting such BS figures as $0.65 per km - it is total crap. If you are getting these figures from somewhere like the RACQ or NRMA, their figures are based on running costs for family vehicles which might only do 15,000km per year - you can not say a taxi (which Uber is) has the same running costs because they pay the same amount for registration and even with higher insurance costs, they do a lot more km's per year so their $/km are a lot lower than John Citizen who only drives 100km per week.

Go talk to any mechanic - a car which runs hot all day (taxi/Uber) doing say 400km a day will have a lot less issues over 100,000km than the average family car which drives to work, parks for 8 hours and then drives home later. A lot of maintenance costs come because of the age, not the number of km's driven.

In Sydney Bondi or eastern suburbs is probably where a lot of people drive to and from city and between to get jobs. Like you head that way and you know there will be jobs and most surges in that part of town.

What suburb or region other than the city is like that for Brisbane?
