I usually work from 5pm - 1am and this shit always happens once the sun goes down. These people put in the WRONG HOUSE NUMBER. And then they never figure it out until I've knocked on the wrong door and freaking out the person who lives inside because it's like midnight and someone is knocking on their door. I feel so bad for them. I even once did this, called the dude, told him the house number he gave me and he said that was correct. Well it wasn't. I finally figured out he's a couple houses down and his house number is RIGHT BEHIND HIM. And guess what? IT WASN'T THE ONE HE GAVE ME. This poor woman once was terrified of what I wanted and like a minute after this dude comes out 'oh sorry I put in the address wrong' I don't understand how this keeps happening. Like, I'm starting to think I need to confirm people's address before I drive but that wouldn't help in the situation I described before. Also, I deliver in really shady, bad areas so it's understandable for these people to be...

hell yeah I’m liking this one!!!!!!!!!!! Had an airport fare to Pasadena we had an excellent conversation and when I’m helping the women with her luggage once we get to her destination she told me “you’re very kind and handsome we should get dinner sometime” I told her I would love to and we have plans for Tuesday night !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I've been wondering about this and wanting to try it for a long time.
We've all gotten those pings that are 15-20 minutes away, even longer. Especially on Lyft. Sometimes we keep getting them back to back to back.
I've always wondered how many of those people really need the ride and would be willing to pay more for it.
How many would be willing to offer $20-40 upfront tip just to secure that ride.
But the problem is we don't accept it, so we don't know.
So yesterday I decided to try. I kept getting a Lyft ping that was about 15 miles away.
So I accepted and called him. Here's what I did.
I played dumb and asked him where he was, like I wasn't sure. Then when he told me I apologized, but told him that was too far for me. I explained that it just wasn't worth it since I would actually lose money.
He gave me a really sad sounding "really?"
So then I made my move.
I told him the only way I could possibly do it, if he really needed the ride, was if he...
We are adding a "Driving for Uber" component to one of our adult school entrepreneur classes at Community Business College.
Do you have any suggestions as to what topics should be included in the course syllabus?
I asked the community on Quora, with the question, "What topics would you recommend be included in a beginning Uber/Lyft entrepreneur’s class?" but the responses so far have been pretty generic.
We have all the basics of the mechanics, but I think our students would like some bits of wisdom from those who have had experience with ride sharing before embarking on their Uber adventure.
What would you like to see included in such a class if you were taking it for the first time?
video will be up when i get home. This is ridic, He slams my door and discriminates in my car i kick him out he fully hard slams my door i walk out tell him to not slam my door, or ill slam his face, his gf runs up and kicks me in the nuts, and my reaction was to kick in the face, now cops are around me. Wish me good luck
Anyways, a couple of months ago I made my final payment on my Car. No more $638.00 a month payments.
It was a 5 Year loan. So I'm expecting my Fico score to go up,....right?
Common sense would tell you that it would go up?
Nope, it went down 5 points. That makes me angry. Never missed a payment, it was deducted from my account automatically, and now I'm down a few points. Can anyone explain that one to me?
I owe nothing to anyone, except my House payment perhaps. My CC (I have two) are paid off on a monthly base. I never spend more than I make or can afford. So what the @@@@ is this now?
Thought it would be good if we share tips that help us out.
Not talking about the type that might help us make more money.
Just simple tips that make your driving day better.
For me, being mostly a late night driver, I have a hard time finding open restrooms and fresh coffee.
Even the 24 hour 7-11's don't have fresh coffee at 2 am and they don't like making fresh pots until about 4:30am.
So I've started going to Denny's. They will sell you a to-go coffee. And while she goes to get it for you, I help myself to their restroom.
Of course, every time I'm there I'm secretly hoping to run into thatridesharegirl girl again.
I assume you dont have to do more than one and that has to be one the way? I assume alot of people do what the rider asks but its point a to b. They are supposed to put in seperate destinations at least right?
My first ride was a stop but was put in as a seperate destination and ended up being good trip. But someone doing several trips making you wait.. nope
Q: Is Uber trying to screw me?
Q: Is Uber trying to get revenge on me? It feels personal.
A: No. They don't know you, they don't care about you. Nothing you did makes you stand out among the other 1 million drivers.
Q: Uber took over xx% of the fare, can they do this?
Q: I'm so pissed, can I sue them?
A: No. Unless you opted out of arbitration.
Q: Am I in danger of being deactivated?
A: Always. For no reason at all.
Q: I heard Lyft is better.
A: You heard wrong.
Q: Should I rent a car to do this?
Q: Why (blah blah blah) ratings (blah blah blah)?
A: Ratings don't matter. Unless you drop below 4.60.
Q: What's the best way to get more tips?
A: Be nicer to people.
Q: I've been told not to take Pool or Shared.
A: You heard right.
Q: How do I avoid the horrible people in life?
A: Quit driving and go work in a warehouse. Alone.
Drivers with the transportation company Uber will have the chance to refuse passengers who attend the upcoming Unite the Right 2 white supremacist rally in DC on August 12. The refusal is contingent on a driver’s feelings of comfort and safety in accordance with the app’s community guidelines.
According to the terms agreed uponwhen signing up for the service, both drivers and passengers are “are expected to exercise good judgment and behave decently towards other people in the car when riding with Uber.” That list of bad...
I have been driving for Uber for one month now. I have been getting a lot of 1 stars lately. I drive pretty safely but once the riders see my face, they look disgusted, repulsed especially the female pax and they give me attitude. I am a little overweight with average looking face. Not deformed or anything. Just people don’t like to make eye contact with me. Also I do have bad breath which is a medical condition I always had. I notice Bad vibe in the car to the point I wanna quit Uber. The pax just gives me bad attitude.. don’t know how I should react when they treat me like this? I had five women sitting in the back, not trying to sit near me even though there’s no space in the back. I was hella pissed. I feel like a goddam loser!
I admit I don’t consider myself bad looking but I do try to look professional at all times, also wearing suit and tie. My Uber rating right now is 4.42. I was wondering if attractive Uber Drivers get higher ratings just for their looks? It’s women who...
I get asked this question several times a night. “Aren’t you afraid your going to get murdered driving for UBER?” Honestly, I would like to know Uber’s textbook answer to quote. I get so sick of being asked this from both Males and Females young and old.
After 38 years of driving, I still don't know how to handle the psychotic maniacs who literally come out of nowhere and ride my rear bumper---on the highway(!)
It happened twice in the same area in the last week (405 becomes 518 west towards SeaTac airport), and on the exit ramp last night. Other than those a__holes, I really enjoy driving. I guess they think that they are invincible, have no regard for others and that you are on their road?(!)
How do you handle them? Thanks.
There are certain service workers that it is more customary to tip than others. I guess this can differ from place to place. Which ones do you tip, and why?
Also, is there any rhyme and reason, as to which kind of workers it is customary to tip?
I suppose it's pretty traditional to tip cab drivers, and I guess that's why some of us feel we should be tipped (as a logical extension to that).
Anyway, I guess the point of this thread is to discuss tipping in general, why we tip some professions and not others, and how this is relevant to us.
A large black box arrived yesterday. From Uber. Hmmm. A bomb?
Opened it carefully and found that I am now a “Rider Preferred Driver”.
But there was more!!!!!
A custom car coffee mug, a not so crisp $1.00 bill and a sticker for my car declaring my newly appointed status. Then I notice a smaller box with buttons. I pressed “play” and got 2 minutes of accolades from Uber!!!!! Including notice that $1.00 will be added to each tip I receive for the next month. Not to mention that less than 2% of drivers in the Nation received this status. Time to start wearing a tie while driving.
When I went out on my run last night, almost every rider brought it to my attention. They seemed more excited than I was. Tips last night were awesome.
So….what is Uber up to now?
Driver for Uber and Lyft live-streamed hundreds of riders on Twitch without their consent
An Uber and Lyft driver in St. Louis, Missouri has given around 700 rides since March 2018, and nearly all of them have been live-streamed on Twitch, without passenger consent. In a lengthy report, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch detailed the actions of Jason Gargac, a 32-year ride-hailing driver who took advantage of Missouri’s one-party consent laws to build up a Twitch following by live-streaming passengers — including children. At times, Gargac has inadvertently revealed the full names of his riders and what their homes and neighborhoods looked like on his channel, under the online handle “JustSmurf.”
Gargac isn’t the first driver to live stream his or her...
Hey y'all. I am a total noob at rideshare (I did my first ride this a.m., in fact). I would appreciate some advice/clarification on the rules of picking up a pax who is not the person shown on the ping. I read through the Beginner's Wiki on these forums and the Uber literature. I am still not sure what exactly the rules are.
FYI, the particular situation that arose was the following
I got a ping from Dude. I arrive at location. Teenage looking dude tries to enter my vehicle without greeting me (my doors are locked). I was trying to greet him, but it took a bit for him to realize I wanted to check to make sure he was the name on the account. He told me his uncle requested the ride for him. I asked him if unclewas coming with us, to which the answer was negative. I informed him I could not accept himas a passenger without the person whose name is on the account.
Now, this is where I am unsure what the rule is. I know pax can request a ride for a friend, but aren't they supposed...
