Even boost zones are worthless these days

I took a look at the boost zone plan for this weekend. What it boils down to is this: No decent boost unless you're driving the 00-04 shift. Folks, 1.1X is not a boost in my book. That's great----no surges and no boost. And yet they are still actively recruiting for more drivers.

For you blackjack players, that's like going to a casino that does not allow you to split cards or double down----it's just straight up blackjack against the dealer. Under those terms, the house will ALWAYS win----you never have a chance to get ahead

Yet, this House continues to lose hundreds of millions of dollars every quarter. I can't see any way that they are losing money in Chicago. In fact, the tens of millions they are making in Chicago are going to pay for all their "investments" and losses elsewhere.

Best boost always seems to be the same zone 3am to 4am at 1.4 and then 4am to 7am 1.6 or 1.7. Avondale Zone. Crappy 1.1 or 1.2 in Lakeview/Lincoln Park.

You said it, gotta drive that shift, right area. Suburban drivers, wtf is boost?

I drive the 8PM to 5-6AM shift on weekends---including Sunday nights and have had lots of success with it. As a result of a more productive driving strategy,I've pretty much stopped driving during weekdays. I've mentioned my strategy about driving in boost zones on other posts. I'm a contrarian. Where do you think every Uber driver will be when they see a 1.7x boost at 00-04? That's right-----5000 cars crammed into a few square miles and mainly on only 2-3 streets chasing the same nickel and dime rides. I would rather have ten 1.0X rides in the under served parts of the city than 1 or 2 1.7x rides that are just going a mile or so from a 2AM bar to a 4AM bar. I have not missed a weekend quest in over 4 months.

I took the time to make a list and map out every late closing bar north of Chinatown and the NW suburbs. I know when and where to be besides the usual Wicker Park, Logan Square and River North locations. I learned a while back that working a couple of hours past 4AM pays dividends-----the walk of shame rides from 4-6 AM are low hanging fruit as far as I'm concerned.

Are boost zones different for each driver, like quests are? One night a few weeks ago, I was sitting at a light behind another Uber driver and noticed his phone with the app on, I noticed he had way more boost zones showing, zones I never got before, I saw the red zone number indicators on many parts of the city, while mine was just the Loop boost zone.

Is this correct?

Thanks and be safe out there.

As the comedian Bill Maher likes to say on a segment of his HBO series, "I don't know it to be a fact, but I know it's true."

I agree. I bet every driver and their moms included try to cram into that ridiculous stand alone 1.7 zone during the morning rush covering Wicker Park etc. Or even those early morning boosts on the weekends.

Boost has always been trash ever since it came out. I miss those guarantees especially after they had gotten rid of the rating requirement.
