Dpf and overheat

Guys I got insignia with 166K on it. Yesterday it's got overheated engine on motorway and the car asked me to switch it off. Coolant water was full and no steam what so ever. Went to garage today and they told me that the exhaust is blocked and it's the dpf problem. I couldn't find anything on the web that says dpf will cause engine to overheat madly straightaway. Do you think it's dpf or the water pump is starting to die out? Thanks.

I know that they do it in eastern europe.
Dpf out, reprogram ecu or something and that's it.
Same with egr valve.
