Don't trust the Live Location feature.

Just go to the pin/address as usual and enjoy watching the blue dot bounce around while the pax gets their act together. The realtime location feature is often wrong, especially in downtown areas with tall buildings where cell signals bounce around. Going to the live location instead of the pin threw off my pickup effort on a trip Jan 1 and helped me earn a 1* (just confirmed with my Jan 1-8 weekly report).

I’ve seen the live location pin standing on the opposite side of the street from the pax. The gps signal didn’t even want to be near them.

That's exactly what happened to me for the trip described above. That, two navigation errors, and my refusal to take cash for the return trip (and that pax being high on something) earned me my 1*. Despite me letting them stop at a gas station.

I agree. The Live Location is utterly useless. I watched the pax flag bounce all over the place. Next thing I know, pax is standing outside my door waiting for me to unlock. Regardless of the Live Location, I will always go and wait at the actual Pin Drop location.

This feature is dumb. What if the pax drops the pin at the first bar for pick up. You arrive, but pax moved 2 bars south of the pin drop. I'm not going to make a U-turn to get back to the pax's actual location.

I drive to the pin, I don't care what the address is or what their live location is. That timer needs to start counting down and unless you get within a certain distance to it, The rider won't be accountable for anything if those 5 minutes aren't counted down.

I didn't realize this for a few months and it pisses me off because I waited longer than I should have for some of Uber's less responsible pax. Now it's the pin or nothing.

If someone gets in my car and starts to give me any lip service for being at the wrong address, I point to my phone and say "that's so weird! You must've entered in the wrong information, because right now we're sitting on top of your pin, see?" and give them a Gee Golly Willakers look.

What do you do if the pin is inside a building? Or obviously in the wrong place?

I will drive around the building until it hits. i'll take a trip through the alley, go into a driveway, whatever it takes. I think I've had a problem maybe 3-4 times total. But I'll do whatever it takes to start that timer.

How high has your cancellation rate gotten? Obviously you haven't been deactivated yet but you seem like you're itching to cancel.

Right now it's 15%, I don't necessarily like canceling (especially since I only drive surge/boost times) but I'm also not going to be stuck waiting for someone for over 5 minutes without the option of canceling and moving on so I can accept another ride while it's still surging.

I don't like to have my time wasted, and often pax don't respect our time.

The stick figure on Lyft is much more precise than Uber, but not always perfect.

The pax is swimming to you for easier load up, so you don't have to cross that bridge.

    Mista TMista T , how's your week?

Today was a big airport day—9 to/from. Felt like I was a down town shuttle.

    Yep, need a good weekend

Well, hard to explain it: 9 total either to or from, not 18 roundtrippers.

I owe you a beer and lunch anyway. I appreciate the info shared at the last meet up.

I wonder why lyft is able to get this right, then. Pax can set a pin, and lyft automatically figures their live position, and it's usually spot on. I dont know why uber has such an issue with gps
