That's exactly why Uber is going to flat pricing so passengers cannot see that there is surge pricing. Unless you have people that use the system often they are never going to know what the real rates are and will pay based on the flat fee to get them from A to B. It's pure genius on Uber's part. Supply and demand pricing without the customers ever knowing.

Rates are still only 70 cents per mile in Detroit. NJ rates still beats them, not by much. Booking fee is insane at $2.30
