That uber stupid rule won't happen here, Australian government doesn't care if the whole Taxi industry drops dead.

It won't happen here, so far out of most countries around the world, Australia is where Uber has pulled in it's biggest profits yet. Just by wage theft really.

I can’t see a minimum 15-minute booking rule ever being introduced anywhere in Australia as it would represent an entirely artificial constraint on trade with a protectionist purpose of supporting one kind of supplier.

I agree, but the threat of this could give local authorities the big stick that is obviously needed to bring the likes of Uber in line with accepted business practises. Not to mention common decency.
But we are talking Australian politicians here, jellyfish don't have spines.
