WASHINGTON - Uber is looking into a troubling incident that involved one of its drivers and some Capitol Hill interns.

The interns said they hailed an Uber ride Tuesday night near George Washington University. Their destination was the Trump International Hotel.

However, they never made it there. The interns claim they were holding “Make America Great Again” hats and when the driver saw that, he refused to take them to the hotel.

Matthew Handy told FOX 5 that he and his fellow interns were not being obnoxious or pushy and all they were doing was holding the hats in their hands.

Handy said the driver then questioned the group.

“He's like, ‘Is that a Make America Great Again hat?’ We're like, ‘Yes, sir. It is.’ He said, ‘Well, I can't do this ride,’” Handy described.

Handy said the interns want the driver fired and an apology from Uber.

"We also want a statement acknowledging that he's been terminated because not only did he break Uber's laws, he broke D.C. law," he said. "Because you cannot discriminate because of somebody's political beliefs.”

The intern who ordered the Uber was not charged when the driver allegedly refused to take the group.

Uber released a statement saying, “We aim to provide a reliable service to everyone who uses Uber. We have reached out to both the rider and the driver, and continue to look into this.”

It is unknown if the driver still has a job with Uber.

I will give them a ride but I also support the right of the driver to refuse it.

PEOPLE, you need to understand , if you want to decline a ride , you can perfectly and legally do it.
Just DO NOT GIVE ANY EXPLANATIONS

CANCEL AND GO. Not a word.Never forget that .
I KNOW FIRST HAND.

As you're well aware, my politics are a lot closer to the pax than they are to the driver, but still it's HIS car.

I'm fed up with pax who think they own our cars.

I encourage anyone to reject any ride they do not want to take whether it's because of political reasons or pax being entitled brat or whatever the reason may be.
I reject any and all rides I don't want to take, and I kick people out all the time if they become annoying.
It's my car, my rules, if you don't like it, get the hell out.

I don't blame the driver at all, I blame the pax trying to score political points...
Then again I don't care what pax's political beliefs are, but as long as they don't annoy me or call me racist, sexist or whatever liberals call Trump supporters these days, I will drive them.

One of the few regulations on the TNCs is that they can not deny service to protected classes. As UberPotomac correctly indicates, if you say nothing and drive away from the customer, there is little that they can do-------on the surface, that is. If the customer tells Uber that he thinks that you drove away from him because he is a member of a protected class, then, depending on the protected class of which he is a member, Uber might de-activate you.

What's wrong with "MAGA"?. I miss the time before the house bubble, even I made some fortune investing houses. The USA has gone down really fast after the house bubble. I see lots of people struggling to just make living. I wanna "MAGA".

And knowing how ethical passengers are, a flat cancel w/ no explanation can quickly turn into a "I got cancelled on because of my service pitbull"

Where is ebony inn casino?. I never heard of it. I used to play at borgata, mayland live, hollywood, and mgm lately. Mgm in oxon hill is the worst and tightest casino ever.
JayJay, that you!?
