The C-charge, suspended on March 23 as part of the lockdown, will be re-introduced on Monday, about two weeks earlier than expected.

It will increase from £11.50 to £15 — a 30 per cent hike — from June 22 and will be enforced seven days a week, rather than just on weekdays at present.

Its operating hours will temporarily extended in the evening from 6pm to 10pm. The charge will continue to be levied from 7am.

It really has nothing to do with Sadiq this time.
As a condition of the government bailing out TFL to the tune of £1.6 billion, the Govt wanted these terms imposed, or no bailout.

Not true, read the terms, The government requirement was to “review the CC” with an open ended time frame, this was all Khan, to divert blame from his shocking mismanagement.

This is a guy that recruited a deputy mayor for transport on £140k per annum who by here own admission hasn’t got a clue about transport but she works 14 hour days

He can't risk losing bus passengers to Uber. Because if he start charging proper bus fare then Uber will a lot cheaper than busses.

TFL fares are going up.

He’s finally cottoned on that getting £300 from you is less than a 5%reduction in public transport numbers

It has been on the pipeline for quite sometime!
Stop giving him excuses, he is just using the gov as a scapegoat.

Read this article was back in 2017 way before they introduced Cc on private hire drivers.

I hadn't heard this part before. Where did you get this information from?

This shouldn't now be called 'congestion charge', it should be called 'Covid TFL tax'. "it isn't about congestion anymore, and has blatantly been abused to raise revenue. Always the road user getting squeezed. Everyone will just keep paying and they will continue taking the pi55 whenever they feel like. The roads will only get worse too, its not like we will see any improvement for these extra fees. Just more closed roads, less routes that can been used due to cycle lanes and cycle ares in the city.
