Cleveland police officers will not participate in the opening ceremonies for the Browns' opening day -- in protest against Browns' players "taking a knee" during the National Anthem during pre-season.

How much do you want to bet that this turns into a public perception of the police being racist? You know that the liberal media is just chomping at the bit to start more controversy.

I wonder what would happen with traffic and violence if the Cleveland police decided not to participate in any of the needs during a Browns home game? Let the Browns players cough up the hundreds of thousands of dollars for security and traffic control.

I think they are smart enough to realize that's a loser. Even the vast majority of the NFL players aren't participating in the publicity stunts, and Kaepernick (who never was very good anyway) is a player without a job.

They're not even considering an action like that. That would be unprofessional and irresponsible -- see Charlottesville, where the politicians ordered the police to stand down and wouldn't let them stop the violence. Or Baltimore on a number of occasions where they did the same thing.

The Cleveland police are just refusing to participate in the flag presentation ceremony because people are disrespecting the flag and the National Anthem.

Didn't he come in half way through the 2012 season to lead the 49ers to the Super Bowl? Kaepernick passed for over 300 yards in an almost remarkable comeback in the famous Harbaugh brother Super Bowl.

I don't know. I know he was a backup with the 49ers and they cut him. Nobody else has shown any interest in picking him up. Apparently he's regarded as a mediocre QB with lots of baggage, and therefore unemployed.

And Matt Cassel led the Patriots to an 11-5 Season.

It's all about "what have you done for me lately".

However, we can't forget about Earl Morrell the best backup in NFL history. After the Dolphins' Bob Griese went down in week 4 of the '72 season with a broken ankle Morrell came in to lead the Dolphins to a perfect regular season mark of 14-0. Griese came back for the post season and the team finished 17-0 for the only perfect season in NFL history.

I would argue that last year Tony Romo was the best backup in NFL history. But that is coming from a Cowboys fan.

Speaking of your beloved Cowboys, they invade the desert on Sept 25 for MNF to play my Cardinals. It's a big deal here in The Valley of the Sun. Many longtime residents of AZ are Cowboys fans since there was no team until the Cardinals moved here in '87.
Is woman basher Elliot going to be able to play after his appeal? AZ doesn't put up with any domestic violence crap. Hell, the Suns traded Jason Kidd in his prime after he was only arrested for DV. But that's ok, because getting rid of Kidd paved the way for 2 time MVP Steve Nash to start shinning. Nash is the only player in NBA history to do the 40-50-90 five times. Lebron James, Micheal Jordan, Kobe Bryant or Kevin Durant couldn't even do it one time.

I heard rumors that they he might get zero games and will be able to play week 1. Something about mishandling of the investigation.
Dont know if it'll hold up, but I'm sure my boy JJ is doing everything possible to get it thrown out.

Should be a good game. I'm excited about my boys coming to both Oakland and Santa Clara this year. I might try to make both games.

Brother, please be careful with the Raider game. They are some of the worst fans. There is usually a lot of violence in the stands during Raider games.

lol, yea I know. I would probably go as a Raiders fan, and only secretly root for the Cowboys.
Now 49er fans I can handle.

Oh the irony! Lol. They're mad because the players' protests are "unpatriotic", so they refuse to participate in "patriotic ceremonies", as protest of protestors' refusal to participate in "patriotic ceremonies".

Except they'd be giving their time to be there at the stadium.
Players are being paid millions while they protest

Yes, ever been to Oakland?
It's the arm pit of the state.
Hookers, pimps, gangbangers ... and that's the police department.
Government is a socialist model (picture Cuba, or Venezuela)
It stinks too. Smells like rotting fish (from the bay at low tide) and factory smoke.
