While doing a security check of my phone this morning, which I do after I update all my apps once a week, I noticed that the Uber Passenger App has added a TON of permissions that it never had before.
BEFORE UPDATE:
Location
AFTER UPDATE:
Camera
Contacts
Location
Microphone
Phone
SMS
Storage
So now, not only do we have to manually deny permissions in the Uber Driver App after update, but apparently in the Uber Passenger App as well.
It won't allow me to choose, when I get into the "Uber" subheading it merely lists all the permission and when you click on them it explains what it means. Have I given Uber permission to over-ride my permission?

You may be running an older version of Android that does not allow access to permissions without root. You can try updating to the new android system through your carrier website or phone manufacturer website, but they don't always make it available because old systems sell new phones.
Denying them permission to your phone and SMS only prevents them from seeing your phone logs and text messages that are on your phone. You can still send & receive calls and texts to/from passengers.
