Canberra Balloon Spectacular

We all know that there's always plenty of hot air from the pollies at Parliament House. Well, that hot air from all over Australia will be put to good use in the Canberra Balloon Spectacular where you can see a huge number of hot air balloons rise and float away.

The balloon spectacular will be held on the lawns in front of Old Parliament House from Saturday 11 March to Sunday 19 March. Ballooons inflate from 6.15 am and launch betweeen 6.30 am and 7.00 am, weather permitting.

The Belconnen Lions Club will serve breakfast. Last year, they served about 9,000 meals across the nine days: 3,000 sausages, 345 kilograms of bacon, 7,320 eggs and 520 litres of orange juice.

There are always big crowds at the spectacular and it should be a source of work for Uber drivers.

King Edward Terrace will be closed from Parkes Place West to Parkes Place East from 5.45 am to about 9.45 am each day of the spectacular. Keep this in mind when driving in the area.

When driving, remember to look at the road rather than the balloons!
