There are fluber drivers who use this forum to measure there success by trying to minimize other drivers efforts by telling the world how much money they make like Trump trumpeting there horn when in reality they are inadequate insecure blow hearts working a gig out of desperation. This is an experiment used to exploit desperate people with little opportunity. They should refrain from such childish behavior and stop drawing attention to themselves out of self esteem problems. It's not your fault there are no jobs in a unstable market. Use this forum to discuss ways to escape this experiment before it's too late. By the way only share income with the IRS.

5% unemployment ain't bad and it has improved each quarter for the last 6 years. If you can't get a job you are not trying or lazy.

If you actually believe the U3 5% number reported by the media. The real unemployment measure is U6 with is near 10%.

Also labor participation rate is the lowest since the 1960's.

Exactly...he is drinking the Obama Kool-Aid. Unemployment rate doesnt count those who were looking for work, but stopped looking. Real number is actually prob closer to 20%.
Here are some real numbers....93 Million American Adults are unemployed. One out of four American Households have Zero...not One working member living in the house hold. Obama and the Dems are masters at spinning the facts and getting the Uninformed to belive and follow them.

The other problem is the jobs that have been created are minimum wage or close to it, like Uber driving. I used to make 85K at my last salary gig but after layoffs or contract completions, I kept seeing wages drop while those higher paying jobs disappeared or went to a H1B Visas or fresh college grads who will work for half what the jobs paid 2 years ago. TOns of work in that industry went to other countries offering tax subsidies to the US businesses that were willing to close their US facility and open up over seas or in Canada. It's a damn shame how all the Americans are getting cut out of an industry that they pioneered, but it seems like that is just par for the course in the US corporate dominated political system. AS long as these establishment politicians keep pushing their globalist agendas for the corporate and bankster elites, its lights out for the middle class in America.

I have a college degree, but I didn't need one to work in that industry or this one. I really think I just wasted 5 years working my way through college taking night classes and doing physical labor during the day. If I had gone into the Coast Guard at that age I'd already be on my first retirement pension and double dipping another one from some easy gov job or private industry. But I listened to what society told me to do, go to college and join the private sector. I did that, and all I got was a string of temporary contracts that sometimes turned into employment which usually eventually ended in lay-offs. When I was offerd 401Ks after a year or whatever of employment, it rarely made sense to take them knowing that I'd have to cash it out when the companies stock took a shit and they laid everyone off.

Lots of weird stuff happened around 2008-2012, almost everyone I know with a high paying job was laid off, only to be replaced with hipster type kids living at home with their parents working slave wages.

Updated July 8, 2016

In a complex economy, conventional measures sometimes fall short.
In today’s labor market, the unemployment rate drastically understates the weakness of job opportunities. This is due to the existence of a large pool of “missing workers”–potential workers who, because of weak job opportunities, are neither employed nor actively seeking a job. In other words, these are people who would be either working or looking for work if job opportunities were significantly stronger. Because jobless workers are only counted as unemployed if they are actively seeking work, these “missing workers” are not reflected in the unemployment rate.

Total missing workers, June 2016: 2,630,000

No, its more like the media reports the rosier economic picture.

The U3 figure is correct, but it's not an accurate depiction of the true employment situation.
Romney promised an unemployment rate of 6% in 4 years. He did not promise what the U3 number or whatever ancillary numbers the right wants to use, as spouted by Faux news. Could, should things be better? Likely, but I think plenty of folks do not quite realize what a hole we were in. Created by both sides of the aisle starting with both parties voting us into Iraq. The claim from the left that immigration is almost under control as net immigration is way down is equally questionable. That probably is a better indicator of the economy than any other number. Not a great abundance of jobs.

Iraq, had we finished the job would have done exactly what it was designed to do. Make Cheney and the BUshes and all their buddies rich AF, traumatize the surving Muslims into submission, and create a temporary economic boom from all the the money spent on guns and ammo... But that plan went sideways fast. THe money never trickles down when it's extorted like that through force and fear, becasue the people who grab it, hide it and pay politicians to keep it hidden.

THe only good way to turn around our economy is raise the minimum wage to at least $15. Suddenly, people will be buying cheap crap from China again and eating out more and buying new stuff for their kids, or saving up for a down payment on a home... not to mention rideshare business would go up!

Almost half the population would get a raise if it was raised to $15 and it would provide wage equality for women.

A small increase in costs would be incurred but I think the bar/restaurant owners already have a plan to deal with it by eliminating tipping and directly charging everyone a living wage fee of 15-20%

THis way your price didn't change if you already were tipping and now the owner can pay the back of the house more. The days of the hot chicks with cleavage making tons of cash in the front while the lowly bussers get pennies are over.

People drive for a variety of reasons, but nobody would do this for free or at a loss (at least not a known loss).

Earnings are obviously critically important. Discussing those anecdotes provides insight as to the viability of driving to meet various financial goals.

Lmao!!! That is the most ignorant, and incorrect analysis I have ever heard. Literally a regurgitation of left wing talking points. The left spews out this bullshit, knowing that emotional people will forget about logic and facts, and grab on to it like crazy.
So many things, I would like to respond to....but I dont have time to write a short novel on here, like you do every hour practically. I mean you are on here all day, morning to late night responding to LITERALLY every thread. Do you not, have any friends or family? I know you only drive Surge so you must only work about 5 hours a week...maybe thats why you are on this forum so much.
As for the wacked out political views you threw out....one thing has to be mentioned....raising the min wage would literally cause even more of a loss of jobs much like Obama Care did. You onviously have zero experience running a small business. I did though for many years....and like most small businesses, our margins are razor thin, and Labor cost is the reason why. What do you think will happen if we raise that labor cost exponentially?
Just stick to giving bad Uber advice....that only hurts a relative few....if your political views were followed...the Country would absolutely crumble.
You and your other lefties should move to Europe or South America...Socialism is the way there. Their economies are absolute crap, and getting worse as Country's like England finally see the light and run from socialism...but hey...you would fit right in with your ignorant political views.

I agree about sharing income. People in all jobs should be doing it. THe only ones who want to keep it a secret is the managers and boss. They use shame and threats to keep workers secretive. It's really disgusting IMO.

This is a place to learn how to escape the Drone driving mentality that Uber wants to impose on us. Sharing stats is vital, Uber uses the info to its benefit so why shouldn't we.

Your establishment parties have been running things into the ground buddy. It's obvious that the proletariat has grown tired of the same old dogmatic corporate sponsored political gamesmanship. Go ahead keep believing that one day you will be a member of the Country CLub, jet set super rich. It ain't gonna happen for you and you're too slow to look around and realize that all your former Republican friends became Tea Party Libs. Your a Neo-Con I get it. But you idiots lost control of your own party just like the Dems are now, which is why you will be RELUCTANTLY voting for Trump. And I'll be laughing at how stupid the Repubs have become and dancing on all the neo-con graves.

With all your bluster here you really have just proved yourself to be an ignorant buffoon who resorts to personal attacks instead of good arguments in political debates, just like your unwanted leader Trump! You are obviously unworthy of taking the same stage with me in a debate. SO enjoy your parties meltdown and the disaster that another Clinton will create.

I bet you hate Obama because he's black. GL with your unexamined life, while real progressives, and I don't mean Clinton (who is just as establishment as the Bush's), keep chipping away at your wall of ignorance.
