Bad fares lately

I saw my first $3.00 ping last night. I don’t recall seeing anything under $4 before. It was a 1.3 promo night though, again it is normally at least 1.4 in that area.

People are reporting fare cuts in many places. The gravy train has ended.

it’s time for UE to start making money and there’s only a few ways to work on that. Squeeze delivery people, squeeze customers, squeeze restaurants, or squeeze programming and customer support.

postmates has flown the surrender flag, now its a fight to the bone among the survivors.

Today, 7/8/2020 I had 8 pings for $3.00 her in Florida. I never got those before. I used to deliver for Postmates and stopped because of all the $3.00 pings! I declined them all today!! I also did a delivery today that was 9.2 miles...it only paid $4.73 Base and .76 Trip supplement! = $5.49 for 9.2 miles and 17.26 minutes!?!?!?!? WTH is going on????? The last 2 days have been my worst days in my 10 months of driving!

Is this due to Uber's Postmates acquisition?? If this continues I will definitely go to DD or GH. If I can't make at least a dollar a mile I am out!!
Uber's been perpetually cutting Eats driver pay for years. This is just the latest pay cut.

A dollar a mile isn't enough to make a decent wage.

They are making money in mature markets.

They grab a 30% service fee from the restaurants and charge the customers delivery and "booking fees", all the while paying the drivers garbage rates.

I asked a customer how much they were charged for their delivery (roughly a $25-$30 order)and he said $4

So do the math... $4 from the customer + $10 from the restaurant (based on $25 order) = $10

I was paid a measly $4 for that delivery, so Uber made a nice $10 profit on that trip. I did all the work and Uber grabbed most of the revenue.

Uber probably uses the same sleazy accounting methods used in Hollywood to turn movies such as Titanic into money-losers on paper.

You forgot squeeze CEO and Executive Pay.

Keep squeezing driver pay and watch drivers go to DD and GH.
DD is infamous for their $2/no-tip deliveries.

To quote the Joker from Batman, the entire IC business model needs an enema.

Same here. Last couple days have sucked in metro Detroit and then restaurants have the nerve to want you to wait 30 minutes with a decrease in pay. It’s insane. I don’t understand why they don’t wait until the food is absolutely ready to go. It’s so stupid and frustrating!!!!

Be careful waiting , unless it's a large order but even those are risky. I have waited 30 mins for large order fare was the same tho, lucked out with good tips, other times screwed.

Same in Michigan.
In michigan.
The two companies to work for are door dash and grubhub.
Grub hub there is a waiting list they only allow so many drivers on at once .
So when your driving grub hub its usually always busy earn about 20 to 30 an hour very average is 25 this have been like that for the last 5 months c19 . DD expect to earn a steady 18 to 22 an hour . Instakart expect to earn 8 bucks an hour .
When things go back to normal dd you will earn about 12 to 15 mon/thursday gh 17 ish mon/thursday. friday and sat expect to earn 25 to 35 an hour for both easily. sunday after the c19 thing you should not work its not worth your time .
Now uber eats i used to earn a steady 25 to 30 an hour monday / sunday. uber used to pay very well my average order was 12 bucks each .
Uber eats today pays less then half then uber x i think uber eats rates are 3 dollar fee to you and 35 cents a mile .
U ber x is .11 a minute and .60 a mile . Uber used to pay 5 dollar service fee to you and .90c a mile and time 22 cents a minute and 30c a minute waiting for food at a restaurant . Today uber eats expect to earn a steady 6 bucks hour minus fuel.
With postmates evpect to lose money on every order it was so pore i did 10 orders in total the best order paid 8 bucks 15 miles with a tip .
all the others pure loss of fuel time .

Wait 30 mins? WTF? You cancelled right?
Here in AZ UE suck!! Free delivery, so you wait 30 minutes+ through the drive-thru just to go a mile or less. Not worth it!! If you are lucky to make 3.00 and no tip!!
I had a lady pax in my car we were talking about UE, she had ordered from McD's 2 of sausage and egg breakfast sandwiches (2 for 4.00) 2 hashbrowns, 2 OJ's should have been under 10.00. I asked her how far did she live from her order, she told me not even a mile. I told her, the driver sits in a drive-thru for 30+ minutes maybe 10 cars ahead. Which we don't get paid for waiting for our p/u order, because of free delivery!! The driver made at the most 3.00. But Uber charged her 28.00. What's wrong with this picture?

I did not cancel because it was super slow and it was for two orders that were close by but neither one left a good tip so I won’t do it again...I thought the person with the huge order would leave a good tip but they didn’t. I learned a good lesson!

we have to be tips survivors now..go deliver to good/rich neighborhoods only ha
I never get good tips from wealthy areas to be honest. I get my best tips from middle class areas but tips are very unpredictable.

Yes, same happened to me yesterday! Waited thirty or more minutes for a huge Coney Island order and the tip was horrible! Never again!!

Hate to break it to you but they are also some of the worst tippers/ no tippers. Uber might as well eliminate the fare pay at this point and just ask the customer what's it worth to you to get this food?
Yes, I never get good tips from wealthy areas!!! It has only happened once in almost 900 deliveries!!!!

Wow, thanks for the very detailed response. I am on the door dash waitlist and I am activated on grub hub but haven’t tried it yet because it sounds like it’s very confusing with having to carry that “credit card” and having to sometimes place customers orders. My grub hub specialist wasn’t very helpful so I really don’t get there set up. Also, the signing up in blocks seems like it can get messy since they don’t want you to drop blocks but I am still going to try it. I have nothing to lose because Uber eats makes me angry every shift lol. Thanks again for your great help!!!

I hate the drive thru especially kfc it’s always packed and they never have it together. I don’t understand why these restaurants think we want to wait at all. Goal is to go in and grab food immediately. I don’t even want to wait 2 minutes just have the food sitting there for me to grab. I try to do 40 to 50 deliveries a day and you cannot achieve that with waiting at each stupid stop. Some of these restaurants are so rude and inconsiderate.
