Atlantic City, New Jersey

Discussion in 'New Jersey' started by One Star Lawrence, Aug 19, 2018.

  1. Let's talk Atlantic City. Any of you uber people have any experience there? I've been doing this two weeks part time and I am pretty surprised. Did very well my first Saturday night. Drove 4 hours made about $200. That's close to $50 and hour. Unreal money considering the fact you aren't breaking your back. I'm a full time medic and we bust our asses on 12 hr shifts for peanuts. We literally break our backs trying to save people. Big people are the worst. Any how I find this extremely lucrative. Ultimate side hustle?... or am I just in a good market and season. I'm sure winter time here will be a drag...

First time Uber drivers get priority on rides for a little while. My first week I averaged about or close to that. That’s how Uber lured you in. Watch with time how that averages goes down dramatically and you start averaging 12-15 an hour. Good luck though.

He's right. You're in the honeymoon phase. It will end soon enough

  4. You can make money in AC but I won’t tell you how. No offense, it took me a couple of years to learn it well. But I rarely drive in AC. Big attitudes, hood rat pax, tons of lights etc and so on.

  5. You got that right. Those local $6 jobs take a lot of time during peak hours. So hit or miss I feel in AC. Yet again it's crazy how fast that ping hits once you clear from a job. I hope this honey moon theory isn't a thing.

Actually mikewithebikemikewithebike, this is common knowledge about the honeymoon period in general, but I do not think it is documented anywhere but on the forums. And as far as a specific time frame, I also don't think it is a hard & fast rule. But, our own litigator here, SuzeCBSuzeCB has shown us may times how she was earning in her early days on the Goober platform. We had a few noobs in our radio click that also were getting great rides for an early period in their driving, only to see the work peter off as they got more invested in driving. No one knows what algorithms Goober employs, and how long the algo will run until it gets changed/deleted but there is ample proof that the company as a whole constantly is screwing with all the numbers.

  8. I love AC! I spend most of my driving time there chatting it up with the pimps and hookers in between rides. If you stick with it you can make decent money there

Ok I'll put in my 2¢... My very first ride was from AC. I was inn sitting for my girlfriends brother (March 2017) so I was in AC for my 1st month of driving. 1st ride I was sitting outside of the Tropicana and got my 1st ping @10am. 3 very nice black girls who smelled like they just smoked a oz of pot... I was so new that I was trying to press the start trip button when the one girl said you have to slide it... Turns out the trip was from AC to Toms River to drop one girl off then off to Brooklyn. When we got to Brooklyn they called up a place and ordered breakfast and had me drive around to the diner and wait for them to pick up the order. Then I had to drive around to drop off one girl and then the account holder (Remember I was new 1st ride). Another SNAFU was I did not know about using GM for the Nav and got lost once in NYC using Uber Nav (the old version), so the one girl had to give directions. Another thing is I let them use my blue tooth to play their rap music during the trip (which screwed up my phone). I did get 5 stars (no tip) and it turns out the account holder was a TLC driver whose car was in the garage for repairs...

My 1st trip was a real wake up call of what not to do while driving.... I now have over 1,700 rides just doing 3 weekend nights a week...

At shore rates? I'd take that every day. Maybe not the stop for food. How long did they take, anyway? Did they call the order in ahead of time?

Into NYC using the "Verazano Trick", then back out using the Holland or Lincoln (depending on how f***ed up the Holland traffic is at the time, then set a DF to work NJ all the way back.

I know for a fact in 2015 when I started driving rideshare as well as when I invited a driver this May this wasn't the case with either one of us. We both drive strictly DTS. I believe that this theory is no more than "Urban Legend..."

Yes Shore Rates, Remember it was my first ride so I had no idea not to stop for a pickup... Yes they did call ahead for the food p/u and it was about 5-10 mins.. I already knew how to get to Brooklyn across Staten Island as I have friends I visit there. Again I had no idea of what a DF was. I will say I did not hit any traffic. I did go back through Staten Island and had to be back in AC because I needed to set out Happy Hour for the B&B guests (20 of them and I also cooked the breakfasts in the morning) where I was inn sitting...

I did manage to find my first trip... Here's a screen shot From 2017:

I rarely ever do Atlantic City, but the one one occasion I did it, I got lucky. I had a trip all the way from Caesar's to the Long Island area. Plus $100 cash tip. That was a good one. Turns out the couples Tesla had power steering issues and was not drivable, so cudtomer service booked the trip for them. It was a free trip for them, so he gave me $100 cash tip.

I have never driven AC. Last time I was even there was in late 1999 or early 2000, as a matter of fact. Before that, it was 1992 (first time).

  16. Interesting, I think you should give it a shot. The 2 new casinos have been drawing a lot of people.
