Uber has included the above in-app message about assistance animals.

This policy was last updated on 7 July 2017.

This policy includes a statement that assistance animals are not limited to assisting those who are visually impaired. ‘Assistance animals can help people with physical disabilities, autism, post-traumatic stress, diabetes, anxiety, dementia, hearing loss and other disabilities’.

The policy also explains how riders can lodge relevant complaints. It includes the following important statement:

‘Riders will be refunded any cleaning fees charged for shedding by their assistance animal’.
