I finally forced myself to drive today. Plan is to do a split shift 5am - 10am, then, 8pm - 2am. $300 goal. I'm halfway done now.

Poured rain and hail all morning. This kept the ant count to a minimum and saw some decent surges at CVG. Here's my report on a few of the annoying and rude pax of the day. ..

Two millenial females leaving town on business. One was black and the other was Chinese, but by listening to them, you'd swear they were 15yr old white chicks from the valley. They never shut up the entire 30 minute ride. They hate men who manspread and the color red makes them nervous. I wanted to throw them out in the rain. In the middle of the highway. In the dark.

Three, thirty something businessmen. In town for a power meeting at P&G. One was from England, and one was Indian. The Indian sat up front and lectured the other two for 40 minutes. This meant he was cocked sideways in the seat and each word meant I got full blast of curry/coffee breath. I wanted to spray Ozium directly into his mouth.

About this time, rush hour hit and 75 backed up. Hail was pounding the car. I hightail it to the casino parking garage. .

Some forty year old guy and a chick who looked 19. I think he picked her up at the casino. Soon as I start the trip, he asks if we can detour to a bank downtown. Apparently, she needs to run inside for a few minutes. I get the idea that she hates him and is using him for a free ride. He's desperately trying to impress her. She gets out at the bank and I inform him that I cannot wait without risking a ticket. Bye Felicia. Hope you got her number.

Best trip of the day was the final ping. Pulled into CVG on the way home. 10 cars in the lot. Get a ping instantly. It's 10:24am..Pull up to pax pickup number 1. No sign sign of Mikala. Phone rings, I ignore it. Rings again. I answer. She's waiting on her luggage and will be out in a few minutes. No problem I say, take your time. 10:30.. Cancel. Rider no show... $3.75 ..

$125 down, $175 to go. Doubtful. How's your day so far?

Similar to yours except I was shooting for $200. Had a similar experience with the cancelation. Pax texts me "Be down in a minute!" I responded "Alright thanks" For this I'll give them the courtesy of one extra minute. Six minutes and I'm gone. Uber usually doesn't pay for the time we spend picking up pax but sometimes they do :D:D

It's funny that it's such a perverse delight to drive off on time outs. I enjoyed the shlt out of that, especially when it was a Pool pax. I'm just waiting for my brother. Sure, take your time. Time out and cancel. See ya, bottom feeder!

I love cancelling on them, especially at the airport. The Uber app gives them specific instructions to NOT order a ride until they have their luggage and are at the curb. They can also see that drivers are less than 5 minutes away. With all that, they constantly order as soon as the plane lands.

If everyone did that, the pickup area becomes a parking lot. It's so rude. The airport cops go nuts too.

A part of me feels like Uber refunds all these no show fees, that's why Pax don't give a ****. There is no way Pax can get a few no show cancels and be like "Meh" when ordering Uber, taking their time. A few $5 charges for no ride would get most people to be prompt in the future. With how blatant people are about making drivers wait, which it seems is far more prevalent in the night time scene then the commuter scene, they can't be paying those no show fees every time.

I have been doing a few pickups after work lately, get some extra cash on the way home since they're doing hourly guarantees. 4 pickups in 3 hours between 4-7pm. Log on to Select profile at 4, finish up work by 5 (no one requests select in my area at this time), go on X... pickup 4 rides in under 90 minutes, back to Select and drive home. Easy $50-60 for just 4 minimum fare pax for 90 minutes of active work.

I have noticed that the commuter pax are almost always out waiting, ready to go. Most are trying to get home from work, so they want to get in and get going asap.

Then you haven't read many of my posts. Otherwise you'd know that African American women are usually my favorite riders. I don't discriminate against anyone based on race or country of origin. I also don't give free passes based on either.

I noticed you convienently overlooked the guy and gal in the story from the casino. They happened to be white. Maybe you're the one with the problem?

All I read was, the black, Chinese, and Indian,...were terrible by default, but the whites were a pleasure.... When I didn't see anything anyone did that was rude or annoying..... Just people being people....you seem a bit too grumpy for this line of work....

Three people in the story are white. Get over it. Your posting history shows you're pretty grumpy about spoiled rich kids. I bet they were white. Lol

Why is it necessary to mention the race/ethnicity at all ?!?

It should not be relevant to the story, unless you are trying to convey some kind of stereotype image in the minds of your readers.

If you are so biased - to the point of feeling the need to mention a person's race or age, then this may be the wrong gig for you.

And since you are about to search through my previous posts, looking for something to nail me on, I will just tell you right now, that I am not 100% politically correct - but I can state that after doing about 3500 lifetime trips, every single one of my "problem passengers" have been White people, who I picked up in "decent" areas.

I drive the all-night shift in Chicago, where the majority of my riders are non-White, and I have never had a reason to report their behavior or rate any of them with less than 5-stars. White people are somehow more entitled to be asssholes and regard you as a service worker or their servant.

There are occasional uncomfortable moments, but never to the point where I was actually scared.

There are a lot of drunks in the early part of the late night, but they tend to be more annoying than dangerous (and are more likely to tip, if you play along with their silliness).

Those runs are usually wrapped up by 3:00am - just when the airport runs are beginning.

There are lots of people moving around all night for all kinds of reasons, most often people going to work at odd hours, when public transportation is not available or desirable.

Driving at night has many advantages. Although you wont cash in on surge pricing, I make up for it in ride volume. There are fewer drivers out there to compete with for pings.
No traffic means that you can move through the streets very quickly. There are fewer bicycles and pedestrians to worry about, and there are very few cars on the streets, which makes accidents much less likely. The cops are also less assertive with their traffic enforcement.

I also get to avoid automated red-light and speed camera tickets, because I have one of those "no-photo" license plate brackets that flashes back at the camera, making the plate unreadable.

Driving in the city at night works well for my situation, but I understand why it might not be for everyone.

I hate everyone equally and I'm proud of it. :) I often wonder why I seem to really get along well with black women. They seem to love me and always tip well.

Actually, I can understand how my posts give a false impression of me here. It's easy to constantly post about negative rides, because it can be stress relieving and funny too. We have to be nice to everyone, even jerks, and this forum is one place where we can vent and share experiences with other drivers.

Truth is, my rating has never fallen below 4.85 and no complaints ever filed. I'm probably too nice to these riders, but I can't help it. I drive downtown mostly, so 85% of my pax are either black, asian, Latino or some other minority. I could post 100 stories about good rides for every 5 bad ones. ... but what fun is that?

Wanna hear about the white women?

White women treat me the best.....most black women feel they are above black men, especially black men who aren't tall......lol so they don't cause me any trouble, but they are like a ghost ....they don't speak, or make conversation....they just get in sit still get out and give me a 3 or less.....and as far as the kid I wanted to punch he was actually 25.....

Sure you can. Hate to burst your bubble.....we'll, no I don't.......

Describing who mistreated you isn't bigotry or racism. You can claim it all day, but yer just proving you don't know what either of those terms mean.

So....a person mugs you. You get an excellent look at them. What are you going to tell the police? It was a guy? That's it? Probably not.

You snowflakes need to toughen up.
