You do know we were the #1 economic power in the late 1800’s before all of these labor laws were instituted.
Try again; it wasn't till a couple of years before 1900 that we barely surpassed China. Here is a visual of the GDP of countries from 1800 going forward. It was China for most of the 1800s not the US. Labor laws came into play after the stock market crash of 1929. The corruption of companies and courts which forced workers to play the stock market - because a lack of social security - came to an end with the crash and when Roosevelt came into office.

Ironically, the liberals of the gig economy are acting like the 3rd world capitalist that ran this country before the 1900s, and the mother of all stock market crashes is around the corner.
