2019 Concert Season Starts

This may fall under all 3. I first assumed it was a carny needed a ride. I called to confirm pick up location and came to the conclusion pax was drunk. Pretty early/late even for a carny to be boozing. Arrive at ride share let and of course no Peter. Call back he can't explain where he is. Then I hear the voice of a very sober and annoyed male say "give me the phone"
"Hello, This Officer Martin with the San Diego Police Dept. Do you know where the Solana Gate is?"
"Yes"
"Come pick them up here at the Solana Gate. Thank You."
I couldn't get the story out of these two jokers. Every time I asked them they erupted in laughter and would start trying to wrestle. I had to tell them to stop at least 5 times on this short trip. All in all no problems just two drunks enjoying the fair to the fullest.

All of the best concerts will be at the (insert latest corporate sponsor name) Amphitheater in Chula Vista. Which sucks because that place is all the way down in no-man's-land. I'm not driving down there for concerts rides, no matter what the traffic is like.

I think its on its 4th rename. I got lucky and dropped off a pax at the border and sought some of the friendly surge fire surrounding the venue.

I believe it was just renamed the Viagra Amphitheater. It's a just name since it's so HARD to pick up there.

Constantly renaming stadiums, arenas, football fields, concert venues, etc. using sponsorship names absolutely kills nostalgia.

Future example

Son: Dad, remember that time you took me to Yankee Stadium and we had the greatest time ever?

Father: Sort of. I lost track of all the various corporate naming rights that place went through over the years. I believe the place is now called the Midol Events Center, where the New York Butterflies play.

Son: Oh... *proceeds to cry*

How were your concerts this weekend? I didn’t see any large surges at all

Foo fighters and weezer are playing a private corporate show on tuesday or Wednesday at petco (i think) for that cisco convention in town. I dont think anyone will travel very far after it though since everyone is staying downtown.

Yea I believe its on Wednesday night. The conference ends on Thursday night so I’m expecting surge and heavy demand in DT and SAN thurs. night through the weekend with everyone headed home.

Lame.

I got a $5 bonus. Lyft offered me $1.23
That’s what I saw as well. And under old surge rules it was as high as 2.4.

Damn I hate this new system. They are making a fortune off the backs of the driver.

Last laugh will be mine when they give me my O'Connor check. I'll get back every penny in commission they've ever taken and then some...

For new drivers,

Surge pricing means, your fare will be doubled if the surge amount is 2x. Not happening anymore! Uber changed that surging policy. The only extra you can get for the concerts is 3 or 5 dollars surge fee on top of the base rate. You drive for $0.65/mile. Meaning: pick up someone after 15 minutes battle at the venue and drive 2 miles will still get you $1.2 and with $3 surge fee. Waiting at the concert venue as if you will score a big ride with a surge is a stupid dream Uber wants you to believe in. If the ride is $3, with surge fee you'll make 6, if its $100 ride, with surge you'll make $103.

Thanks to many hungry ants who ruined this market and surging. Enjoy the concert season.
