Two men accused of attacking an Uber driver with a spanner and taking off with his car have been tracked down by police using the ride-booking service's GPS.

The two men, aged 25 and 29, approached the driver when his Uber was parked in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley about 8:00pm on Saturday.

Police said he was then pulled from his seat and assaulted with a spanner, before the alleged thieves took off with his car.

Little did they know their movements were being monitored by police, who followed them to a house at Tanah Merah in Logan.

The two accused, who are related and both from Tanah Merah, are due to appear in court on Monday.

The 29-year-old has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving, armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and wilful damage.

The 25-year-old has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, armed robbery and drink-driving.

The Uber driver was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
