    Higher rates = less rides...

Touche. I should have said "When the rideshares started..." that was the case. Now, they don't care about their image, or their bottom line. It's insane.

    Austin Airport Drama & Enforcement

I have had no problem getting rides at the airport. Even when the queue is 65+, I haven't sat more than an hour in a long time and since I usually go there for a break followed by a decent ride anyway... it's all good.

Are the Uber and Lyft Bubbles about to Burst?

It's too bad Uber lost the concept that got it started. Same ride as a cab could give but: - in a better car - with a more polite driver - with an app to show you aren't just being driven around town randomly - for only 65 - 70% of cab cost Now they have completely dropped their drawers in...

    Higher rates = less rides...

Except for LUX, every level of Uber and Lyft are a lot less expensive than taxis and are higher quality vehicles. The ride shares can make money if they choose to. I wonder how much tips got impacted...

Long trips? What is the longest Trip Request you have ever received?

To a ranch near Bertram from the airport. It paid around $75 on X and she tipped $10 more. Plus it was a beautiful day, so I really didn't mind the deadhead back. Averaged $20 an hour and only had to deal with 1 pax and a peaceful ride back... I'll take it.

    ATX driver chat (JULY 2019)

Did my 1,000th ride on Uber last night. No alert, no badge, no nothing. Geez... They can't even be nice to you digitally!

    ATX driver chat (JUNE 2019)

Agreed. Especially Thanksgiving. The volume of flights is high, but the volume of people renting cars or being picked up by a relative are even higher. I would think that only XL drivers would have a shot at normal or better than average business on those days.

    Austin Airport Drama & Enforcement

I would likely not rely on sitting in the airport, just in the event that I get a drop-off there and the Lyft timer has it under 30 min for a ride, then I *might* hang out and give it a shot. I'd rather drive in the city and learn where all the cool smaller bars & eateries are...

    Austin Airport Drama & Enforcement

Speaking of airport... Are there drivers here that are aware of the local requirements to pickup in Houston / Dallas / San Antonio? If I decide to use some Marriott points and go drive in another city for a weekend, it's good info to know... Thanks in advance... LLATX

    ATX driver chat (JUNE 2019)

When I am in town, I have made it a point to wait out the opportunities and focus on RA everywhere but the airport. Given that we are in the summer break, it is working better than expected. I really think now is the time to actively push RA as a driver. The people taking rides now are...

    Wet riders at Barton Springs

This is why I'm glad I only get drop offs there and not pick ups. I avoid the place unless a ride takes me there.

You know it's slow when I start showing up anywhere near 6th or West Campus... good thing most of the kids are gone now!

    Teslas coming market disruption

Technology advancements are moving at breakneck speeds, and Tesla is doing some good things in cost reduction on more "entry level" Teslas. However, for all the reasons listed by pootboy and Ziggy, this just isn't going to be a reality for 3+ years. And I only give it a 50% chance to succeed...

So Uber Has Me Shut Down For A Background Check...

This also highlights the importance of keeping Rude Austin in the game. I have started taking every ride unless it meant losing a Top 20 spot in the airport queue. And as much as I dislike Lyfts jelly bean looking app and stupid low acceptance rate reminders, they haven’t moved the target...

So Uber Has Me Shut Down For A Background Check...

I have Lyft as well as the best ride share option here... Ride Austin. It’s been a productive night anyway. I just hate the lack of notice and the “oh well, F You if you don’t like it” attitude. Uber sucks hard.

So Uber Has Me Shut Down For A Background Check...

What’s pissing me off about this is that I held a Top Secret clearance with the military for many years and a Secret clearance with an aerospace company firm many more years. This is not a hard one to review....

So Uber Has Me Shut Down For A Background Check...

Yes, you read that correctly. When I tried to login at 5 PM and do some driving, I was greeted by a window (that I did not screen cap) stating that they needed some data. The app asked me to enter my SSN and verify that I was willing to submit to a "routine background check". Once I exited...

    ATX Driver Chat (May 2019)

Well, Uber would have to designate another area for the Diamond Queue when they haven't even bothered to designate the same areas their competitors have now. Also, I have no metrics to back this up, but I seriously doubt that people who qualify to be in it would be more than 10 - 15 at any one...
