I heard it's low? My rate here in Baltimore is base fare $1, per minute 0.11, per mile $1.15. Is Detroit lower? Do anyone of you cross into Windsor, Canada to Uber? I don't see Windsor being available to Uber in though so just wondering.
Is Michigan a good state to Uber in outside of Detroit? I'm asking because I'm considering moving there.
What do you mean outside of Detroit? The metro detroit area is considered one service area, but there are other service areas like grand rapids, ann arbor, flint, etc.
As someone told you, there are 4 or 5 areas in Michigan which Uber operates. Outside of those areas there is nothing. No Uber at all.
Email Uber support for all your questions since you obviously don't want to listen to the answers given to you.
We drive Detroit and the suburbs of Detroit.
As stated, there are other cities Uber operates in in Michigan. Ann Arbor, Lansing, Flint to name a few. Our rates are one of the lowest Uber operates in.
Before moving to Michigan, you may want to check out a map of the state.
The rates that matter for Detroit are .70 cents per mile and .15 cents per minute.
That is very low and likely the lowest in the country.
The $1.50 base rate is irrelevant as that is only used when trip begins.
I hope Uber isn't the reason you are considering moving to Michigan.
The rates for Lyft are almost identical to UberX in Detroit.
.70 cents per mile
.15 cents per minute
The Lyft Base fare is lower at .50 cent
But Lyft Serrvice Fee is higher at $2.50 vs. 2.30 for Uber.
So Lyft is a little cheaper for passengers (based on $1 less Base Fare) but drivers make more on same trip with Uber.
Now that doesn't take tipping and Power Driver Bonus or other incentives into the equation.
There is no guarantee you'll pass Uxer or Lixt's 5-star rating or mentor session. Coupled with low crime rate area next to high crime rate neighborhood, you better have good reasons to move to Metro Detroit to live on TNC driving.

I just moved here a couple of months ago, but I didn't move for Uber. I moved for music and Canada where I eventually plan to live. I Uber'd in DC/VA/MD and did well. But people here are getting raped with no condom, no kiss, no mint on the pillow, NOTHING! AND.....they have a f'd up system for picking up at the airport, and they like to f--k drivers out of their place in the que by pinging 10-15 miles away and shutting off the app if you decline two rides. Funny thing is you only get those far away pings if you are 3,2, or 1 in the que. I don't know about crossing over into Windsor. That would be cool, though if we do.

Welcome to Detroit Metro. You summarize it like you have seen it all. After being sent by Uber going through Detroit, I see many places just like they left 60 years ago.

Driving to Windsor is a waste of time you have to have your passport and even with your passport you will be hassled going and coming way too much time not enough money
With 51 stars and one leaf, you risk to be detained or searched, not mention to be questioned with trick questions after you pay toll charges. You could end up loss your Uber driver status, but homeless, stateless and on your own as an independent orphan. Why do it if you don't know your customer/rider(s)? I only did it once, because she is an ER doctor, and I have many family members as MD-PHD or heads of hospitals.
