newbie got into an accident, will i still be able to rent TLC car ?

OP, you should ask this question in the NYC specific part of the website because most likely only other drivers from the boroughs will be able to give you information that applies to your situation (TLC). There is always the option of becoming a suburbs Uber driver with your own or someone...

The NEW UBER APP, has reduced pay even more with FIXED LOW SURGES

I can confirm. Ever since the new app I have found myself several times in or near a surge area but I have not gotten any pings at the max surge shown on screen. It's always a lower surge or none at all and also surges seem to die down very quickly. As opposed to before when I could almost...

The NEW UBER APP, has reduced pay even more with FIXED LOW SURGES

I think I agree with you. I also have noticed more drivers clustered around good areas, compared to the old app. I think it is a combination of what you mentioned plus the new system is very effective at motivating divers to move to certain areas where Uber wants them to be.

    UberEats on an Audi??

I was out ubering tonight and I took someone to Massapequa. On the way there they were ordering some food through UberEats and the delivery guy arrived just as I was pulling in. He was driving an Audi, and a new one too. I don't know about Audis but I looked at some pictures and it was either an...

    Insurance in Upstate NY

Hello all, It's July 2018 and I still cannot find any rideshare insurance options for non- NYC drivers. Has anyone had any luck?

    Nassau County TLC ticket

I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you, I can definitely relate to how you feel as I often drive around this area and I dread those Hicksville LIRR pings. I would have expected that an undercover would flag you down and issue the ticket on the spot, not ride undercover and issue the ticket...

Do you have a legal strategy to avoid pings going West to the boroughs?

Thank you for your input. I agree. Uber on Long Island requires careful planning to be profitable due to unfavorable geography, population centers distribution, the unfortunate proximity of the boroughs since they are a different region for Uber purposes, and even the very high cost of things...

Pressure to Accept every Ride Request

Sarita, this feeling is normal. As you work more you will learn by experience and start to know your limits. Don't be afraid to take a break, find somewhere to have a snack or a soft drink and recharge, even for 10 minutes and then get back on the road. Find the areas that work best for you...

Think about this the next time you cancel on a pax

I think your point is valid, depending on where you work. however at least here on Long Island, NY you can make quick money by working UberEats on wealthy towns. They are normally very short trips and the orders can be from fancy restaurants. I have gotten the normal Uber fee plus back to back...

Think about this the next time you cancel on a pax

This is very true. I have not had an experience like this with a pax but with UberEats. Two times when I arrive at the restaurant to pick up the food the business owner or attendant is freaking out about the driver before me arguing and abandoning the order and they having to remake it and take...

What Are The Risks Of Dating Your PAX? Is It Worth It?

This is true. I think depending on the circumstances people can meet their significant other virtually anywhere. But you cannot forget that in this particular situation the driver is very vulnerable. Anything goes wrong and the driver could end up deactivated forever. Some of us are only part...

How to handle the underage rider issue

My opinion is that this is a very important issue that could have broad implications if anything goes wrong and Uber is not addressing it properly other than being vague about it. I suspect if you have an accident while you were in violation of Uber policy your insurance claim could be denied...

"Service Dogs" - You never win with Uber or Lyft on the subject if you deny the ride.

This is a tricky situation when it comes to dogs. It is my understanding that Uber does not verify that the pax has in fact the need for a service dog and is in possession of one. I think if you make a passenger angry by refusing to take them because they have a dog, they could just report to...

What Are The Risks Of Dating Your PAX? Is It Worth It?

I understand what you mean. I personally would stay away from this but I am thinking more about newbs or very young drivers, perhaps they have never in their lives had the attention of super attractive women (or whatever gender they are interested in). I can see how they would struggle to handle...

Do you have a legal strategy to avoid pings going West to the boroughs?

I try to work east of LIE exits 40-41 but not too far east either. North shore or south shore is okay. I do not accept long trips on early evenings Friday, Saturday and Sundays as this are by experience either party people going to Manhattan or people who live in the city going back. I prefer...
