Hello, I've been thinking about driving uber for a while now but im trying to work out if it would be worth it for me. I drive a 2008 dodge caravan, gets about 16mpg. In Milwaukee, during the winter, with my car, do you guys think it would pay for me to uber drive? Of course if i did it enough, probably. Im looking to work about 25 to 30 hours a week.
You have a vehicle that can take more than 4 passengers AND if people request an X and pile more than 4 into your car, you can upgrade their fare after the fact to XL.
16mpg is pushing it. Also keep in mind that with Uber your are doing mostly city traffic with a lot of stop and go, so you usually get about 20% less gas mileage then you would normally get. So you may actually be getting 12mpg while Ubering. Gas won't be your only expense you need to worry about. Increased maintenance, more frequent oil and tire changes, wash and clean up, etc.
