I know google maps have an option to avoid tolls but when I use google maps provided by uber, there is no option. Is there a way to disable it and if not, what about mywaze? It's really frustrating when it keeps pointing me to 407.

    Solved.

    Check below for solution!

Never disable toll route ,sometimes that's the only option as other highways have lot of traffic, best after starting a trip see alternative route and than decide

Monkey, Why do you want to avoid tolls? If the passenger is paying them and it is the best route, why bother?

Honestly just asking and thanks for pointing out ya can't in uber app. I didn't notice.

I think it's best to ask pax to see if they want to take the toll route or not. I always have it disabled and only enable it if pax is ok with paying the toll. I have a transponder but if you don't then you'll get charged for the camera fee (I'm not sure if uber reimburses you for that).

For drivers who dont have a transponder, I dont think uber will pay you that initial fee when you enter the 407...

There's a way to disable tolls on Google maps through uber app
When you press navigate and Google maps opens press back and then it will give you the option to disable tolls.

On Google Maps there are two ways, but you have to do it every time you click "Navigate". In one you have to click the back button or the "X" to cancel navigation and then use the three dots on the upper right corner to navigate to "Route Options", there you will find the option to avoid tolls. The other is when clicking on the little arrows that take you to a 2D map, you will see a button that says "Route Options".

If you dont have a transponder youre paying extra out of your pocket to use 407. Uber does not compensate you for that. In addition I feel like even if you did have a transponder theyd short you on the extra toll fee as they do with every thing else lol

Passenger can't dictate whether to take 407 or not. Upfront fare so solely driver choice. If you have a transponder then you MUST take 407. It is almost always save time. If km difference is greater than minutes difference on non toll rate then may be take non toll. Otherwise always 407

No, it's not mandatory to take 407 if you have a transponder-- the rider always has a choice. I learned from uberfast, that even with upfront fares, if you take 407 when it's not the upfront/uber-preferred route then the fare reverts to time/distance. I assume it's the same the other way around.

Problem is they don't want to pay. That is why I want to see if there's an alternative. Once they say they want to avoid 407, I would have to use my knowledge to see which road can get to that area. If I don't know I would need to ask the passenger for directions which wouldn't be that good.

No there isn't an option like that when you are using Uber's google maps. As I said, I am not talking about google maps app in general.

When you get a ping from pax and you pick them up and start trip, once you press navigate, it will open up a google map that DOES NOT have a route option to avoid tolls. I know because me and a pax tested out. He opened up google maps and we both compared. No route options for avoid tolls on my end.

This topic was brought up before and someone said to use mywaze but I wanted to see if google has changed.

Once they have agreed to the upfront fare you have every right to follow the route in uber app. The toll was already included in their fare if the 407 is part of the route. As upfront fares always tries to go by fastest available route, if you deviate away from the 407 you may increase the distance and/or time of the trip beyond the cost of the toll. If you do this, there's a good chance uber is not going to compensate you the difference as it is an "enefficient route" so instead they just strip the toll reimbursement away and leave you with the original upfront fare.

I just told you what to do did you even read my comment? When you press navigate on uber app and Google maps opens up press back on your phone then you will see the option to disable tolls.

Why does every one seem so cranky this morning? it's a discussion.

Does seem different from normal GM, Alex.

We all benefit from learning from each other. And I for one appreciate your input and experience.

LoL, I gotta go to work so I can figure this out and how
