Just wanted to let my fellow drivers know that while I was meeting my pax at Terminal C baggage, I was approached by the Phila. police first and then right after the PPA took over and impounded my car. They came up to me while I was loading my pax in to the car. I think they swooped in after the saw me help him with his bags and then he got in the back seat. I would assume that maybe if I greeted him with a handshake and asked him to get in the front they might have stayed away. I had no placards or any indications on my car that I was uber.

I of course contacted the office on Bartram Ave and they assured me that they would get my car back, pay the fines and compensate me while I was without my car. They also gave me credit on the pax app in case I needed to get around while I was waiting for my car. They said it could take up to five business days to get my car back and with tomorrow being the weekend, I'm looking at not getting my car until maybe Friday.

So my advice is to not even chance picking up at PHL. If you have to try to pick up where there are a lot of other people waiting and a lot of cars. When I pulled up at C there was no one around at all so it looked like I stood out like a sore thumb. Tell your pax to wait at D or E if you have to. They always seem to have a lot of activity there.

Good luck!

I have a deal because I manage my dads company (20 cabs). I don't pay anything at the moment. Currently going rate for medallion lease is $350 a week without a car. If you want car and medallion its roughly $75 a day or about $450-$500 a week for a 24/7 lease. Dirt cheap. You can make $400 alone on a Sunday on a not so great day. The owners aren't the issue, it's drivers who are lazy and don't want to hustle. It's hard finding a decent driver anymore. They're all either crazy or cause accidents raising the owners insurance.

Police officer actually gave me a warning Monday that stings were going on as I picked up pax. Glad to here that Uber is backing you up, let us know if they come through.

Well I have some updates. While I still do not have my car back, I was told at the office on Friday that this might take 3 to 5 business days for Uber to help me get it back. I was told up front that I would not have to pay any fines and when they are ready to get my car they will either meet me at the impound or at the office and drive me from there. I was also told up front that they would pay me for each day that I am without my car. I am not going to give actual dollar amounts but lets just say that what they are giving me is more than acceptable. I was told that it might not show up in yesterday's deposit and that I might have to wait until next week. Well I checked yesterday and the money was there! Five days worth. I was also given a credit on my passenger app in case I needed to get somewhere and had no other way of getting around. I haven't used it yet but its nice to know its there.

I will update further when I get my car back.

The thing is I've done UberX, UberBlack, and Lyft rides, and mentored over 200 riders. I'm not proud of it but I made my money (a lot of it) with ride share when it was still lucrative. Now it's just a complete joke. You couldn't pay me $3.50 a mile to ever drive UberX sgain. It's literally like picking up steerage on the titanic.

it wont happen to me as i am smart and have common sense. and my car will never see 5 days in a pound . only if used in criminal activity. and i dont do that.....the impoundment lot is not a pain. just pay your fines (parking) tickets and you never go to that place.
in south phila 23 + years driving. i have only been a car buyer thier , never a lock up. so many friends dont pay thier fines and they go thier. google PPA parking wars......5 days in the pound....hahahahahhahah. i would be at mayors office ...

Well a lot you know. I could have gone to the impound the next day but I just don't carry around a $1000 plus in my pocket. The fines total over $1000 to get my car back so I had to wait for Uber to be able to accompany me to the impound to pay the fines. For whatever reason it took them a few days to set up a day and time but its all good now.

Thats the funny thing about dealing with Uber....you never get a human to talk to unless you go to the office...and they are limited down there. You would think they would have someone sooner come out since a few cars were towed. Sounds like you got your car back....good for you....hope those towing idiots didnt damage or steal anything.
